I am taking a break from the forum. It has gone all slow and a nuisance to just do anything that doesn't take 20 to 30 minutes.. Perhaps in the new year someone will sort it out And sorry to Sandi T tried to get on the Topic after 30 mins gave up. Happy Christmas All Joe
I haven’t seen any performance issues here, Joe. Are sure it’s not something with the computer at your end, or with your broadband?
One thing I have noticed is pictures taking a while to load on some threads, like Sandi's travelogues. Anyone else experiencing that?
It really depends on what we're downloading. Anything with lots of photos and other graphics takes a bit longer. Which is to be expected. I also find that during times of heavy internet traffic it's a little slow. If things get slow and I can't put my finger on it I run a cleaner program to clean the cache and delete cookies. Don't be gone long Joe.
IIRC there is an option to load the forum pages without downloading the pictures, it could be worth trying to see if it is just that causing the problem. It could well be that as I have to wait for some picture heavy thread pages to load and I have a fairly fast connection...
It was pretty slow yesterday @joe mc donald but it does that sometimes for no valid reason for me too. I know that my internerd speed was good but it does happen to quite a few members and intermittently it seems. Especially with pics in. As said above, happy Christmas to you and your family!
Sometimes internet network hardware has issues in one's local area (neighborhood provider boxes etc), just log off for a day they usually get it sorted out soon enough.
Sorry to see you are having issues @joe mc donald . I have not noticed any particular issues. You will be missed. Have a great holiday, perhaps have a good clean up on your PC and come back and join us in the New Year mate.
Have a great Christmas @joe mc donald, come back soon. Haven't noticed any speed issues but I'm lucky now to have a fast connection so probably wouldn't, however my long standing bookmarks for this forum recently stopped working, I realised it was because they were still calling the old .co.uk address, changed them to .com and all is fine. I assume a long standing redirect has now expired, don't imagine that has anything to do with joe's speed problem though?
