Hi mate, I know this is a mega old post, but I have just got an EvoTevh tail tidy for mine. I have some Oxford LED Nightrider indicators, but they look like they may be too logn... what ones did you use to fit so well please??? Cheers
Hello mate, Those are the original LED indicators that come with the Speed R in the UK. Doesn't your bike have original LED's fitted? Mick
Hi there, sorry for a silly question, although your bike is a 2016 94R, do you know it is a 2015 model and not the 2016 model year Speed Triple R onward? Cheers, Ian.
The 94R is a 2015 model year, so Ian's will be a 2016 registration year. Bikes from 2016 through to current date, share the same tail design.
Hi Mr Triple, that was what I was trying to say in a round about way . Pre 2016 metal hanger, post 2016 plastic. I think Col C has fitted a 2016 hanger to his 94R, so it can be done, but it's not a straight swap. The mounting holes on the sub frame seem to be in a similar position but there is a different mounting bracket for the hanger. Hope this helps rather than confuse . All the best, Ian.
You know what...I've confused this even further - I appear to have answered a question you didn't even ask It sounds like you're on the right path though...carry on!
Cheers lads..... so.... regardless of actual manufacture, when I bought the tail tidy I selected the model of bike, 2016 94R, so it fits, I watched a video lol.... my problem is the length of the indicatros, as mine look too long... any ideas
Hi Guys Just fit the evotech tail tidy to mine after the number plate hanger disappeared on my last ride out. I didn’t remove the rubber pad on mine so I will do that another day to see if I can get a bit more space between the indicators and cans (it’s not bad already tbh). My main concern is the hole left by the finishing plate. Surely water will come off the tyre, go through this hole and attack the wires? Anyone seen any issue here (all year riders I guess)? Any solution? All I can think to do is wrap the wires in tape. Thanks
There is a bit of a gap, but for me, a temporary wad of paper towel stuffed inside the tail 'void' has lasted since 2018. I'd imagine that you'll have a bigger gap, because the rubber pad should have been removed. You'll get a much more solid fit too. Have a read here - there's a photo of mine and you can compare gaps
Thanks for your reply. I removed the rubber pad and there doesn’t seem to be much difference at least visually. The indicators are maybe a bit higher but not really any further away from the cans, but they’re fine and it looks really nice. The hole underneath is again not really changed, but whilst I had the tail tidy off I put some grease around the vulnerable bits and tried to move them away from the hole (I have everything pushed back and nothing in the phone storage bit). Also similar to you kitchen roll trick, I shoved a couple of sachets of silicate gel in there. Maybe the terminals are already water proof, and maybe i am being paranoid if no one else has had an issue, it’s just I had a 2011 S3 (totally different under-seat mind), and had under-seat wire corrosion issues due to water ingress. Doing the north coast 500 around Scotland (hopefully) in the summer so didn’t want to worry about getting water in my rear end Thanks again for your help
Hi there, To get rid of the hole on the evotech tail tidy. Get a 1-2mm rubber sheet off of ebay, (10cm square), cut it lengthways so it'll slide in between the 4 screws. Then, cut a V shape In it that'll fit the cables (from the indicators and plate light) and then unscrew the 4 screws (on the top) a bit, slide in the rubber mat between the tail tidy and the bike (v bit first) and then tighten up the screws. No more leaks. Had mine on for over a year now and never had any water in the back at all. Was caked up with water and small stones beforehand. Takes 10 mins.
Forget my amazingly over-engineered paper towel solution Stu...do what @Ducatitotriumph suggests (I think I'll do the same). I rarely get caught in the rain, so it's help up fine, but if you're riding around Scotland...well I understand that the likelihood of getting wet will be higher than in Essex
Wait...I'm trying to imagine this, and have got stuck on cutting a square lengthways. I can't decide which side to cut
Genius! What a great idea. I am all over this. Thanks everyone for chipping in. The power of a forum!
Hi Just thought I should report back and say mission accomplished. I ended up doing it slightly differently I think. I ended up just removing the evotech cover, cutting the rubber shield to size and then putting the cover plate back in place which seems to sandwich it quite well, I don’t think it will move. I used a piece of paper first before I cut the rubber sheeting which worked out well. Looking at it now, I am fairly confident that it will keep the water out so thanks for you reply. Really easy and cost £2 if anyone else is paranoid like me. I have uploaded some pictures showing the back, underneath and the stencil I made. Hope this helps P.S. Scotland trip postponed to later in the year - doh
Excellent! It won’t move so all good! Makes you wonder why something wasn’t in the kit when you get it really!
