Thanks gents. I was able to get under the spring clips using a razor blade and then work them off the rest of the way with a flat head screw driver. The final part of the puzzle concerns the license plate lamp. For some reason the wires leading from the lamp in my kit are bare - unsure whether this is intentional or just missed by the manufacturer. I'm left with the adapter seen below which looks to take a pair of plugs - am I likely to find these at an electronics store? Or can I buy one of the black plugs instead (presumably I'll need a crimping tool to go with it). Many thanks, David
I can only assume it's been missed when manufacturing, as mine have bullet connectors on, you could just solder the wires together or look on ebay for some bullet connectors, saying that I'm sure you local bike shop would have a couple knocking about.
In the pack should be 2x bullet connectors that you need to crimp on to the bare wires. Funny enough, my came exactly the same I.e they didn't send them! I emailed Evotech who apologised and sent them out a few days later so it's obviously an issue when they pack up the components for dispatch. You can get the connectors at pretty much any DIY store but shouldn't have to. When you have them just crimp them on and push them together. Mick
I would of suggested contacting evotech but as David is in Oz it has to be easier to get the parts local to him, always bloody annoying when something should be straight forward!
I was able to source the bullet connectors from Jaycar which is a local electronics hobbyist store. They didn't have the crimp type so I soldered them - all up a bit more work than I'd anticipated but very happy with the result!
Thanks for the comprehensive photos...just wonder if you could advise the dimension as marked below...would also like to place an order for this tail tidy for my speedy..
I can't be precise with this measurement without removing the plate, because the bolts get in the way, but it's in the region of 110mm. If you need it to be accurate, let me know and I'll take the plate off. Singapore eh? These Triumphs certainly cover a wide market. One of my favourite places too
Hi MrTriple, Thanks Thanks!..I have gotten the gauge, don't have to remove the bolts for me. The hole to hole distance for Singapore plate is about 6" (152mm). Will need to do some adjustments to the plate which I probably need to ask around whether it is acceptable to the traffic police. Yes, we welcome you. We did have a group of Triumph die hard fans in Singapore. Although this is not as common as other Japanese/Italian makes where you may not easily get parts repaired or replaced, but we are really impressed by the build quality and willing to choose it for daily commuting or even fun riding. Unfortunately I am currently the only 2016 Speedy rider here so I have to do research out of my boundary
Use double sided sticky pads that you can cut to fit no bolts required http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3M-VHB-Ac...447394?hash=item2cc4de0be2:g:FwQAAOSw44BYdftA
Hi Jonesy. I'm trying to fit the same tail tidy you have on your bike. Am I right in thinking the OM indicators wont fit with arrow cans. Yours look different? If this is the case, have you any suggestions where I can get the indicators from. Thanks.
Excuse me for jumping in. If your fitting Arrows and Evotech tail tidy, the standard indicators will fit. I did have to give the mount bracket on the exhaust, a little bend (only a bit) coz the exhaust was almost touching indicators.
Welcome to the forum Lee - my post was made over two years ago, so the 'spare' R&G tail tidy is long gone...and I've changed the bike since then too. Either way, the 2016 or later bikes have a different tail tidy configuration to the 2011 - 2015, so it wouldn't have fitted your bike. Hope you find what you're looking for
