I am just in the final stages of a rebuild... and the Ground Wire I cannot remember where this was fixed to? Was it the frame or the clip on the side of the Battery Box Holder - HELP...

@Slingshot_Daytona_97 I can take a look tomorrow but do you have a photo of the wire/connector to make what you are looking for easier for me to find?

    Cheers

    Geoff

Hmmmm, I don’t see any cables like this under my seats and wonder if it might be a retrofit Earth strap for something else perhaps? Placement wise, it almost looks like it should connect to the Negative battery terminal (such as a battery optimiser) but the nut and bolt in your photo suggests not.

    The wire is attached.

It has a black color. It comes from the Main ECU Loom. IT IS not the main earth which is the black and white one I showed... its a small 2mm wire.

OK, I just had another look and, short of taking the panels and tank off, I still can't see anything that resembles your connector. However, I can confirm that no cables are attached to the plastic where your picture shows.

I have a Haynes manual and I guess it might simply be the "chassis earth point" illustrated? In which case it can bolt anywhere on the frame presumably.

Mine is an early bike, so it has no earth block but there's a couple of ground wires that affix to the rearmost alternator mounting bolt.

As long as it attaches to the metal, I don't see how it matters much. Of course, it will not work attached to plastic. ...J.D.

odd, both of us had it attached to the Unit... which then sits on plastic? this is an odd one

Hi.. Dont know if you got sorted but the wire with bolt through, bolts through the ECU body to the plastic battery box... Yep i know it doesnt make sense.. but the purpose of that wire is to ground the ecu body via the wiring loom and not via the frame. Ive just finished sorting mine and replacing the ecu and I can assure you this is correct.
