I have enclosed a few pictures of the restoration of the 1960 T20S. I have been unable to find the correct exhaust for the bike. The closest I have found, hits the distributor, and does not hug the frame tight enough.
The original exhaust is junk, but has the correct bend. Someone must make a correct header pipe for this model. I would greatly appreciate any help finding one. Thanks, Mark DSC06612.JPG DSC06873.JPG

It's always going to be a game of chance with aftermarket pipes and the smooth bends on that original make the replacement look a little bit agricultural. I guess the original is beyond practical and economic redemption?

You could try an email with some pics to these UK suppliers and see what kind of response you get?

    http://www.tigercubspares.co.uk/html/exhaust.html

    https://www.meridenoffroad.co.uk/

Off Road Meriden promote themselves in Old Bike Mart as "Tiger Cub Specialist" so should be worth an email enquiry.

If you have difficulty contacting either, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I sent e-mail and pictures to tiger cub spares, but the e-mail for Meridian will not go through. The exhaust I bought for the bike came from Baxters. They sent me 3 other pipes to try, but all had the wrong bends.
Didn't think it would be this difficult to find a pipe. I know they made quite a few of these in the day.

"quite a few" is just a number, and "back in the day" is 60 years ago! Triumph didn't make the pipes they just spec'd them and bought them in so the manufacturer/supplier will have long since disappeared into industial nirvana and their factory/workshop has been turned into a housing estate with street names like Platers Avenue, Pipebenders Close, etc. I exaggerate (only slightly) for comedic effect.

The point is, it's difficult enough getting parts over here for sixties and seventies stuff made in this country, let alone trying to get them in a continent far, far away! As Darkman says (and he is THE MAN that knows) it is hard finding good parts for bikes of this age and type so you'll need to be in this for the long haul, I fear.

I'll e-mail Meriden Off Road and see what they say but it's a holiday weekend on this side of the pond so allow a couple of days!

Meantime, good luck and keep on trying!

Meriden Off Road was a bust, I'm afraid. Their response was :-

"Exhaust pipes are something I have nothing to do with for this reason ! they never fit sorry I cant help im looking for one for a bike for my self ? chris"

I'll try an email to Armours, though I don't hold out a great deal of hope if someone in the trade (as above) is having problems finding something suitable. Sorry if that sounds somewhat doom-laden!

I emailed Armours (they specialise in exhaust pipes for old Brit. bikes) and they have asked for pictures so I've emailed them copie of the images you posted with a brief outline of the problem.

I'll let you know what, if any, response I receive. In the meantime, keep looking!

Hang in there. I've contacted a very good friend in California who restores old Nortons (a multiple prize winner at Pebble Beach!) who has had headers made up in the past. I'm hoping he might be able to point me/you in the right direction. You'll owe him a beer if it works out. I don't drink. :)

    Hey RM.

OK, so, I received an email earlier today following my enquiry to Armours - they had requested photos so I sent them copies of the images you posted on here. Here's their reply :-

    Hello

We have looked at your pictures and believe that our high level pipe for the distributor model does resemble the original one from your bike. It certainly does not kick away from the bike like the one you have obtained in the USA. The pipe is ARMW23 £ 55.00 (not on our web-site yet)

    Silencer ARMST1/2H £ 69.00 outside frame

    Silencer clip £ 4.25

    Postage to USA £ 50.00

    Hope this info is useful

I think £50.00 postage to the USA is a bit wayward - though that does appear to include postage on a silencer (muffler) as well - and I'm sure it would be cheaper for me to procure it and send it on to you.

I do have a slight misgiving about Armours, though I haven't any recent personal experience of buying from them. I just have this nagging thought that there was a period some years ago when their stuff was suffering real quailty issues. @darkman do you have any experience of their recent products?

However, I still have a faint hope that my friend in California might come up with a lead so I suggest you mull over the cost and risk of getting a new one from Armours until I've had an update from the California connection.

    More anon.

I don't have any experience recently from them as i have only used them years back because they are just round the corner from me, i now find old stock or s/h parts as most repro is rubbish :-(

Sounds like a possibility. The owner does not want a muffler like is on the old pipe. Just the header extension. If you need, I can get the part# for the extension for you. Mark

    Adie,
Is there a way you can get a picture of this pipe from Armours? I have not heard back from the e-mails I sent out, so I may have to explore this option. Thanks for the help friend. Mark

Hi Darkman. That's probably not a bad shout at all. I can't imagine they'd have a problem with doing that.

In the meantime, I did email them with a request for photo's and they've sent a couple .... which I hope are below.

Restorer Man. Let me - and Darkman - know what y ou think of these, please, and also whether it's worth Darkman dropping in and asking to take a look and some images.

My personal view is that this pipe looks a LOT better than the new one that you showed from Baxters, but I really don't have a view on whether it's worth a punt at £50+ plus postage. I'm happy to buy, and resend if you want to take the punt but it would not be practical to return. That said, it might easily be realeable in the US, though Cubs of this year are not exactly plentiful!
