Well that's the modification done. For those that haven't had a reason to remove the bar ends they are really just a cap that covers the end of the chrome bars. So as the grips heated up and expanded sideways the small gap that's there when cold is taken up and the friction occurs. The part supplied is a cupped washer and slightly longer (I assume) fixing bolt that fits between the end of the bars and the inside of the cap and increases the gap to a measured 3.6mm. It works as you would expect (surprising how much looser the grip gets as it expands around the circumference when I tested...just an observation). I suspect said 'washer' is a part from somthing else as it's somewhat unnecessarily over engineered and to my eye the gap now looks somewhat excessive. A better solution would have been to supply a new end cap with the width reduced to increase clearance something I think I might do myself.
Well after saying never again, I have just gone and bought another Triumph, this time a Street Twin and it’s just plain fun to ride, its a blast and so easy to ride, love it and second chance Triumph, so please don’t screw up!
