Scottish roads, especially the pink pebble coated ones, give great grip but it does come at a price and they eat tyres.
Hi on holiday in northern France at the moment. Two points to make, firstly we rode from West Yorkshire to Dover in lashing down rain on Pirelli diablo supercorsa with no problems whatsoever, secondly Mrs fzr had a puncture whilst we were in Dieppe and the only replacement readily available was a Bridgestone BT016 .Needs music so we had it fitted, went for a blast on her bike felt exactly the same as the pirellil.
Be careful when the BT016 rear is cold. I had these on my Honda CB1000R and they were grippy right to the edges with good mileage...... but, when the tyre is cold I spun it up a few times with an overexuberant right hand. Didn't have any slides when up to temperature but it seemed slow to warm up.
