Hi there. I realised a couple of days ago that I can open the fuel tank without the key. My question is: do I need a new fuel tank cap or is this a common issue?

I guess at least your issue doesn't leave you stranded unable to fill up. Did you tighten to one click before locking? Assuming it all appears to work properly when not in the tank.

I bought the black aluminium billet one that doesn't lock, as I think it looks better, less to go wrong and is less faf! I suppose someone could nick the cap or fuel, but they could take loads of other bits that are more valuable as well if they want to.

    Hi James597,

Do you have the tank cap in the 'unlocked' position??

Put the key in, turn it and then remove the key, the tank cap should then spin without unscrewing and is therefore locked.
