yeah I'm a bit puzzled as to what it is ....I've done a lot already here's the Video is this normal ?
Does your bike sound any different when cold, as far as stands it doesn't sound anything out the ordinary matey.
yes it is a bit quieter when cold I was thinking to try a different oil 10/50 as recommend in user manual. Currently has a 10/40 Its just frustrating as its one of those sounds you cant un hear - if you can understand that
It's nowt to worry about bud but i do understand, your machine sounds like mine tbh. The ticking noise in question is on start up from a cold engine. As for changing the oil, I wouldn't worry about it.... maybe check the oil level though.
I'm no expert, but I've got two STs (technically, I have one, wifey has the other!) and neither sounds as quiet as those recorded here - barring that one with that odd 'whooshing' noise from the front of the engine. Mine has just over 5,000 miles (it's a 2010 bike) on it and the wife's (a 2009) has just under 12k, and both make the 'ticking' noise that I've always assumed to be noisy injectors and normal. I took both bikes up to Clive Woods last year - the wife's for a12k service (all the valve shims were within specified range) and mine for a thorough check - and he certainly didn't seem to think there was anything untoward there. Bear in mind that the wife's bike has the Triumph TORS cans and mine has the standard so any difference in engine noise would be noticeable. For peace of mind you could, of course, take it back to the dealer or to a trusted experienced mechanic - sorry, technician - but, I'd wager, you're more than likely to get the inevitable "OH, they ALL do that, sir".
Oil change , not much of a difference. Took it to the dealership. They said the bike is sounding absolutely schweet .... So on that note ...... What exhausts are a good idea ? Have a potential Arrow slip on exhaust i can get my hands on.
so an update Took the bike to Triumph dealership .... They checked the tensioner .....absolutely no issues at all Mechanic said he'd like to check the shims They were all correct according to spec as per user manual. However he said he prefers to make them smaller and would like to try try it. Thankfully this has sorted out my problem ... bike is running like a steam train and the tick has gone added pic of bike - exhaust and quick shifter should come really soon
Why would you want to make the clearances smaller if they are in spec? Over time they will close up anyway. Making them tighter now could lead to trouble if they close up completely and just makes more work for the next check, which if they are ok now, they could be ok next time.
Hi I have just heard back from the dealer about my Street triple S 2018, it had a ticking noise its just 1 year old with 6600 on the clock. They say its a loose valve guide and the head will be replaced under warranty to cover it. Now I have to wait 2-3 weeks for it to be sorted, love the bike but am really disappointed. Hope this helps, I was told today by the service manager that its the second one they've had.
