Hi all. Just a bit if advice. Picked up a 2012 Street Triple R and the engine makes a ticking noise. Its there at idle and under load. I am assuming it's the injectors and normal from a quick Google but would value some experienced advice. Thanks in advance
It has full history stamped in the book but no mention. I will go through all the paperwork and check
Sounds alright to me ! But if you have doubts why not drop into your local dealer for an opinion. My old speed triple seemed quite noisy at the top end but never changed in 15k miles . Doesn't sound like it's about to blow up !
No and a lot of them seem to do it. It's under warranty too but new bike and notice everything that's different. Loving it though. The is for the advice. It's appreciated
My 765 does it and apparently it's normal none of my jap bikes did it and when people ask why yr bike tick it's embrassing on a new bike sort it out triumph
Mine's does it as well, but I've only really noticed it in the last few months. And now obviously I've heard it I can't unhear it, it's quite distracting and I've got quite a loud exhaust on mine as well. I was going to book it in for it's 6000m service (although it's only done 5100) and see what they're saying. It doesn't sound normal.
Thought I'd resurrect this thread because this noise is really annoying me. You can hear it better when I move around the other side, but that's not normal is it? I can hear it above all other noises, even on the motorway. It's really distracting. What is it?
Ugh it's so annoying. How come it only started doing it after say, 2500 miles? I'm a total bike n00b, I know nothing of the inner workings.
Agreed definitely not what ya want. When I looked into it I found a company called ape racing do a manual tensioner but I just left mine cos it wasn't bad at all.
Yes its just the adjuster between the torqueing sequence. When its fully adjusts should quieten again. Ride Safe & Enjoy Joe.
HI Joe So what you saying it self adjusts ? Or you have to adjust it yourself ? Not exactly what this is to be honest
They self adjust Cyberlunartic. But if it has stuck then it might need a little help. But it shouldn't stick. And you find people that adjust them tend to over do it. Get your self a piece of wood or plastic like a toilet roll holder and listen to the area see what it sounds like. Can also listen for tappet noise while there. Regards Joe.
Maybe nothing to do with it, but since I got my '07 T100 last year it always had a fairly loud ticking noise. I could clearly hear it whilst riding. I checked valve clearances, all OK. I have recently done an oil change and the noise has gone!! I do remember noticing that the oil level was right at the top of the sight glass when I previously checked it. Now it's about half way. Something to think about?? Paul
