Hi, hoping someone can help with this question. I’m really liking the look of the Street Scrambler 900, how is the exhaust heat protection when your riding it against your legs please? I’m unable to test ride one due to lack of availability around my way of demo bikes so hoping someone can help…
Hello! It's not bad at all. You can feel the heat, but, at least for me, my natural position of driving avoids the contact with the heat shields. Maybe in some hot countries it can be annoying but here where I am, we don't have much days with temperatures above 30. BUT, if you're thinking about driving it with shorts, I advise you to buy a street twin.
Hi there- the exhaust heat is a no issue. Even better, delete the cat and it will reduce the heat significantly and you’ll never notice the exhaust.
CAT = catalytic converter. It's basically an exhaust cleaning filter which, on the SS, sits in the exhaust behind the black painted heat shield. Removing it means cutting open the exhaust and re-welding it back together when done. Either that or buying an after market exhaust without a CAT or an OEM exhaust with the work already done.
Yes, what @Pegscraper says. The easiest way (if you are so inclined) is to get the Free Spirit H-pipe or British Customs competition Header- both fit your stock set up. There are, of course, full exhaust systems that take care of it as well.
