Excuse me if I'm not an expert on the subject but I have a Thruxton project which involves a particular plating on the wheels. Problem is I have the alloy ones, which can't be plated, but I'm 99% sure earlier models had the steel wheels. I know I could anodise my wheels but that would be cheating and won't create the desired effect anyway. I need to part ex with a willing donor so if anyone is interested I'm open to consideration. Wheels are perfect and if you're in London I'll even do the swap of the bikes and tires for you.
