    Hi all.
I'm new to this forum and would like to pick your brains over the Spitfire 1500 engine that is fitted to my Gentry kit car. The car has always maintained a good coolant heat, right in the middle of the gauge but while idling the car today suddenly it's just started to climb into the red. I've fitted a new working thermostat but just the same. After shutting the engine off and feeling he top hose I can feel hot water leaking past but the radiator is still tepid. I removed the rad cap carefully, there was pressure evident but the water inside the radiator was also just tepid. the radiator is only a year and 500 miles old. Any thoughts? I would be most grateful.

    Simon.

Water pump or fan..... Does it have an electric fan and is it cutting in as the temp rises?

On another note does your vehicle have 4 wheels? Most of us only have 2 and some of us enjoy being on 1.

Flush it thorough with a hose... That will check for blockages.. Otherwise I would say most likely the water pump fins have corroded and your not getting the circulation. I have had this issue on old cars before..

Had spitfires some years ago. use to fit kenlo fan and drop the front number plate as that gives better grill opening.
as for wrong forum, easy mistake i suppose. as above get a proper Triumph.lol
