So I checked out the Speedmaster at my Triumph dealer and the frame and rear suspension setup look similar to those on my girlfriends’ Bobber. This got me wondering whether the Speedmaster rear sub-frame would fit on the Bobber because it would make a useful base for a frame-mounted rear luggage rack.

I’m not aware of anyone selling an aftermarket rack.

We’d like to do a little light touring and the Bobber has an obvious limitation in luggage carrying ability.

    Has anybody attempted this?

From what I've read on various sites etc., the new Speedmaster is a basically a Bobber with a rear end .

    Is there any mounting points?

Might be cheaper to get a frame fabricated than to get a genuine Triumph item. Ask around and see if anyone local would bend and weld a frame up for you.

If the sub frame can be grafted onto the Bobber:confused:
Where you gonna get one
Would probably be better chopping in the Bobber for a new Speedmaster :p
It’s basically the same bike

The Speedmaster is essentially a Bobber Black with a pillion and a bit of tubing to hang the foot controls off. If you prefer the riding position of the Bobber the foot controls can be relocated, and a Bobber or Bobber-style handlebar can be put on.

But he wants to know, does bobber frame have mounting points for the subframe?
Can you find out at work?

She has a tank bag but could do with a rear luggage rack for the kitchen sink etc

Nice bike, same colour tank as hers.

This is what I’m wondering. If the Bobber has the mounting points and I can get a look at the subframe and how it mounts I can get something fabricated.

There is no separate sub frame on the Speedmaster as such. It's the sticky up bits at the back that are different to the Bobber and not available as separate items...

    Rich,

    Thanks for the research
    You’re a star.
Unfortunately that means I’m back to the drawing board.

Don’t dismiss it out of hand but what about a trailer :grinning:
I’m now into my second year using a trailer :cool:and will never go back to trying to carry everything on the back :(
You said that you could do fabrication so make a tow bar for it :grinning:
The one I made is removable in minutes when I’m finished with it :)and look how happy I am :grinning:
I can’t emphasise enough how easy a trailer is to ride with in my experience it doesn’t affect the way that the bike handles at all :) F98ABF2F-6135-4393-B80B-08E85665549D.jpeg

I agree with Dilligaf ! I have two trailers and have towed behind 2000 955 sprint and 2009 America , towing barely affected the bike !! IMG_20180216_210005_032.JPG

Don't listen to them, trailers are a hideous carbuncle when attached to a bike. Think of those big clag of shite hanging from the arse of a sheep!!!!
Next they'll be mentioning top boxes attached with lengths of old bits of pallets nailed on.
