The rear preload is most definitely adjustable, as I’ve adjusted mine to properly set sag, they just omitted that adjustment from the manual. Obviously Triumph believes we are incapable of such adjustment. The manual should include a section on sag settings, as it is a very important set up. It should also state that if the owner is incapable of this set up then the owner must take the bike to a professional. For Christ sake, the dealer should do this for the owner when the bike is picked up. Anyway, yes the rear shock is adjustable :mask:.

Makes sense and certainly looking at the pictures, the Ohlins appears to have two screw "ring" adjusters for preload with the upper for locking them together?? Triumph do make specific mention of rear spring preload but state that rear preload is set from the factory and not rider adjustable. I still think this is odd as I would expect to have to crank it up a little for a passenger . . . hey ho. I rarely play with suspension settings - quite happy usually just to ride the thing.
The biggie for me is the DRLs being sealed inside the headlamp shell - whoever thought that one out spent about 2 nanoseconds thinking it through . . . duh!!!!

They are f#%king idiots. Google or talk to any professional and they will tell you that rear & front preload are one of the most important adjustments you can make before you even ride a bike. Please don’t take this setting lightly.

Well . . . the dealer relented and the new S3 is taking pride of place in my line up. The build quality is right up there and has moved on somewhat since my Tiger was made and as without doubt superior to the BMW. I've just finished working on the Tiger - oil/filter change, Nitron R1 fitted, suspension bearings cleaned and regreased with new seals throughout and an overall valet and enthusiastic licking session and my Tigga's purring away nicely. All I have to do now is prep the S3 - fit rad guards, tail tidy, optimate cable and then pull off all the matt parts for shipping to Dream Machine for clearcoating and converting to gloss. The latter may mean I can't ride her for a while because notwithstanding the current lockdown, I don't want to risk any damage to the paintwork prior to clearcoating and I really don't know how or when I can get the stuff over to Nottingham . . will keep you posted and especially on the paint job. Meanwhile . . . some porno pics for you

I know it was about the test ride, but then it turned into ownership story, so, are there any updates? :)

I'd be interested to hear/see the results of clearcoating, also cost?

There are defiantly a few deals about, just got a 600 mile ex demo 2020 Superduke with 20% (£3,200) off the list price.
Triumph defiantly seem to be clearing the warehouse of 1050 Speed for new model. Free Quickshifter, £300 clothing voucher and £1,000 deposit contribution on new bike.

Hi All . . . sorry for the tardy response to queries in this thread but I've been busy on winter maintenance not just on the other bikes but also on the house etc. I have finally worked my way around to the Speed Triple which is now getting most, if not all of my attention.
Rather than tag progress and work done onto this thread, I am starting another thread about the various jobs I have done plus pictures and explanations etc. Those who just ride their bikes likely won't be too interested but the modders and tinkerers amongst us may get some useful info. . . .

"Pimping A New 1050 Speed Triple RS.

First installment later this morning - hopefully
