i tell you what, you come down here, up here, across here, whatever, i will take you around for an hour or two and i will count the cyclists on footpaths, you can count the motorcyclists or car drivers doing the same, i'm sure your limited brain capacity will not be taxed by the task.
Its not sweeping generalisations i have made but specific incidents of cyclists breaking the law and not seeing (or more realistically caring) that they have done so. Its a plain fact, like it or not, a large number of cyclists be they lycra clad Sadley Miggins wannabees or teenagers on BMX's who think that road traffic laws do not apply to them and break many that other motorists would never dream of doing..
As points for consideration i think you should think about the amount of road users that do the following and i defy you to state that these are equal amongst all road user demographics.

1 - proportion of cyclists (of the total number of cyclists) who ride on footpaths versus proportion of other road users (of total said users, cars, motorcycles, vans, lorries, fire engines, whatever) on footpaths...
2 -- proportion of cyclists ignoring red lights versus proportion of other road users ignoring red lights
3 - proportion of cyclists who use pedestrian crossings even though it is expressly forbidden in the highway code versus other road users
4 - proportion of cyclists who go the wrong way around roundabouts compared to the proportion of other road users

As a final comment, because i highlighted a couple of specific instances that i witnessed by cyclists, you inferred that i subsequently thought all other modes of transport were driven by paragons of virtue. Get a grip, i am well aware that the majority of all vehicles are driven by halfwits and imbeciles with very little regard for anyone else (in many cases even their own passengers).
I will not however shy away from my opinion that road traffic laws are unequally observed or enforced between different road users. Cyclists ignore more traffic laws and are penalised less than other road users. As a final note i give you the cyclist who riding a totally illegal fixed wheel, no brake bicycle, killed a pedestrian, walked away from court. What other road user could expect the same?

If ya count cars parking half on a footpath, I would think a hell of a lot more! Just saying, :yum

You probably find that where you are affects your statistics too... I’ve definitely seen more specific road offences from motorised vehicles from none motorised ‘coz of where I live... I ride push bikes, motorbikes, drive cars, vans, tractors and small trucks... Sail boats, kayak, canoe, row Windermere class rowboats, ski, board... and probably summat I forgot!
One thing I do know is every fucker else is worse at the job than me when I’m doing it... I could watch Rossi, McRae or Chichester and think they’re great... put me in the cockpit and it’s like “What the fuck are they doing that for??? They should learn how to drive, ride, run, walk, sail, row, understand brexit, get a grip on homophobia, see how racist they’re being... and anything else other than my particular point of view... bastards the lot of them... !”

Hi all, I originally posted this thread which was pointing out the issue that the majority of cyclists can’t or don’t observe the 2 meter rule for preventing the spread of Coronavirus around my village. As others have said it’s a common occurrence in a variety of circumstances...and either unwittingly or unthinkingly cyclists are putting people’s lives at risk, crippling the NHS and killing people. It is not essential to cycle for exercise and if they can cycle then they can walk like the rest of us who are kept off our motorcycles. Keep safe

I never mentioned the legality of parking on a footpath. I just pointed out that a lot more cars use them. ;)

you can use your motorbike for essential journeys, you can use bicycles for essential journeys and exercise... I really don’t see your problem... claiming cycling is putting the nhs into overload is somewhat of an exaggeration...

Why did you need to point out that cars are doing what they’re allowed to do? That has nothing at all to do with the thread.

I never said anything about the legality of parking on a footpath and cars using them!
    Regards,Ken.
