Seriously thinking of jumping ship from Arai after about 20 years of having nothing else - just really sick of the excessive wind noise (from the helmet - fuck all I can do about the wife!). The Shoei GT-Air ticks all the boxes on paper and tried one on in Bill Smith's and felt good. Does anyone have any experience of these in the real world as it's a fucking expensive mistake if it's crap...

    Cheers,

    B

I've got an XR1100 and I really like it, but I prefer my EXO 1000, - a mate at work bought the GT-Air earlier this year and says its comfy and pretty quiet. I think he had an XR1000 before?
I'll be interested to read what you think about it of you do go for it - on the blade forum a few have bought one, but I bet the riding position changes the noise levels

I've got a Shoei Neotech. An expensive mistake I'm afraid.

All the stuff in their publicity about the design making it one of the quietest helmets on the market and the wonderful ventilation is just shit.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fine helmet, looks good (although why that should be important I don't know) well made and comfortable but it's no quieter or better than my £150 Caberg Justissimo.

Advertising hype. Whether the GT-Air is any better I have no idea but the language they use to describe the GT is very similar to what they say about the Neotech.

    I don't know why I bought it......

The Shoeis I have used have had brilliant ventilation... Open the vents and you can feel the breeze in your hair...
Should be pretty cool for you Bry, going a bit thin on top you may have to close them to stop yourself getting cold....

I had a Xsprit & current helmet the XR1100 which is great... I always run ear plugs so never worry about the noise, just the ventilation, fit and feel... Bry save yourself a few ££££ and get an XR. (although the GT looks so cool, it will be my next lid)

I've got a Exo 450 that I have had for a couple of years for the money it's ok but it is heavy and not the best in cold weather.

I have got a XR1000 which is getting a bit old and chipped but is been fantastic so when I can get away with it I will buy a Air GT as they look really good

Also found XR1100's for sale online for £289 which is pretty good

Is this helmet any good to you Bry. I couldnt possibly comment on the wind noise or the comfort but i am lead to believe they do come in a variety of colours & sizes.

    Hope this helps....
