Hello mighty riders, I hope your day is going great! I am reaching out to you seeking your advice. I just bought a Triumph Bonneville T120 Black and I need to change the tires as the current ones are too old. How will I use the bike? Mainly in the city and day trips during the weekend. In addition, I am planning a big trip around UK in the summer. The following ones are the potential tires I want your opinion on. I am genuinely terrified that with some of them I may risk my life considering they are semi knobby (I hope it's the right word) and would not stick perfectly to the asphalt. 1. Heidenau k60 https://www.heidenautires.com/product/k-60/ 2. Pirelli scorpion rally https://www.tyreleader.ie/motorbike-tyres/pirelli/scorpion-rally-str/ 3. Pirelli mt60 https://www.pirelli.com/tyres/it-it/moto/catalogo/prodotti/mt-60-rs 4. Pirelli scorpion trail 5. Continental TKC70 https://www.continental-pneumatici.it/b2c/motorcycle/tires/tkc-70/ Happy to take your suggestions and thank you!
Hi welcome to the family. Do hit the upload a file button bottom right and show the inmates your bike. I always had Avons on my Bonneville's but any good make is acceptable these days. If you are happy with the tyres on there then change like for like. Joe
I had option 2 on my Street Scramblers and couldn't fault them. I certainly wouldn't go with anything more aggressive on a T120.
I had TKC70s on my Street Scrambler. Took them from the top of England to Geneva and back. Fantastic handling on all road types, balanced wet and dry grip, and good wear. Spent time on everything from autobahn to fire roads; they were great all rounders. They will take you anywhere...
If that was me & my bike in the 2nd pic I would find a way to have it enlarged to maybe 2' x 3' or larger & have it framed in a proper frame and hang it in my living room! Love it!
Another to look at is the Mitas E07. I've used them on my Tiger800XC for years. The rear is dual compound and are impossible to kill off as they seem to last forever but give really good grip. IMO the Heidenau is old tech and square off badly The MT60 requires hot weather. Otherwise they're very twitchy. Also, take a look at the Avon Trailrider. I've got them on my Scrambler1200XC and have found them to be excellent all round.
I just put the Mitas on my Bonneville and I keep getting negative comments about safety on the road! But surely if they are on bikes that travel around the world they must be fine?
I've used them on my Tiger800XC for years. They're fine and last ages. People I ride with say that they can't believe how quick I go round corners with them. Just don't take the piss in the wet.
