Thanks Joe. She was rubbing her left palm but there was nothing to see, probably slapped the floor when she landed. I don't understand the mentality of the rider and I always do the buddy - buddy bit and give others the once over. No gloves is just stupid.
Well @Eldon I have just spent the last 40 minutes reading your fantastic ride report. I have enjoyed every post which has also invoked loads of memories of places I have visited in Scotland. The museum in Kirkwall was a real find which my wife and I enjoyed on our trip to the island. Thanks for taking the time to stop and take the photos and then scrib the supporting story.

A cracking little shop and bakery at Finstoon (Finstown). A healthy lunch break stop . Latte coffee with Chilli Mackerel and Strawberry yoghurt for pudding... yum
To the north of the mainland, what we call Orkney they call mainland, as opposed to one of it's islands like say Eday or Sanday, I passed an art gallery. The wife is a birdwatcher, and with the shops name it twigged my curiosity. Now some art gets me, and some definitely doesn't, so I was pleasantly pleased with my initial viewing once inside, bearing in mind this was scouting for a gift for her and not to myself. This one really caught my eye in it's simplicity although bizarrely they called it " solar geese" whereas I'd say it was Gannets. Initially I was looking at the original full- size version but as I was on the bike, that wasn't going to happen. These stencils were scaled down and offered as cards with envelopes, so I purchased a few options which would hopefully tick her box What do you think?
How many towns could you pull up on a hot sunny day and think, I need to get this helmet and jacket off but I aren't carrying them around? You could, as I did, in Stromness! Gloves under the bungies, helmet on the mirror and jacket draped over the bag and panniers. And off I went for a can of pop and a look around the shops
@Eldon, what a fantastic solo trip! I'm late to your thread but caught up to page 3 and your day at the Kirkwall museum. Bedtime for me to I'll continue enjoying your delightful thread mañana! And yes, the museum hat suits you. And the weather so it would seem.
Last night, I was attending to remedial work ready for the next time A wash and scrub up, then re-lube. Usb port resolved. New front tyre fited. Prompt efficient service from Demon Tweeks and Parcel Farce for me to receive parts yesterday.
That photo is outstanding and absolutely absolutely beautiful,@Eldon! Definitely worthwhile making a poster out of it and hanging air in a prominent place.
