I've now decided to change course entirely and cut across country via Loch Ness. Didn't go in as very busy and not interested but just called for a pic.
From here was a nice blast down the side of the loch. Catch a clump of vehicles, pretty sensibly overtake, then back to throttle on and engine braking flow.... lurvely, very productive and enjoyable. Macdonalds milkshake and Big Mac (what's big about it?) awaits at Fort William.
Refreshed, a ride up Steall Gorge was next. Now if you haven't done this road and you like wheelies, jumps and twists then you need to Dangerously nice! Obviously you could ride it steady, the choice is yours
@Pegscraper never mind Bear Grylls, James Bond can't keep up with me! Ok so I know some smart ar5e is going to tell me he (JB) was here first, it's just a narrative
Look what natures fridge has in store for tonight, a nice drop of Merlot Oh and milk for tea in the morning
A walk after tea, spotting x7 Red deer hinds with the Leica bins, and so to bed. And a blatant bit of product placement, I'll collect my fee later
Friday morning, a bit windy making it chilly today and nothing like yesterday but the sun has yet to wake up properly. Pack up and head off fairly early. likely no signal tonight.so trying to update now
What was impressive, was the guy in the car park who came across to chat. His bike looked pretty mint, do you remember the Yamaha TRX 850? This one has done 67,000 miles. My trip mileage is currently about 1350.
In the last pic you appear to have captured an appendage of the Loch Ness Monster trying to steal your Merlot.
I had one of these as a courtesy bike for a day back in the 90's when my Thunderace was in for it's first, free (NOT!) service. Very similar to the TDM 850 IIRC.
Your lucky @TRIPLE X that I had my shorts on I have been known to wander around in just aqua shoes only You might understand now why I and normal campsites don't really hit it off
Did some cracking roads around Peebles today on my meander south. Nice twisties tested the bike out but got me thinking could I get more out of a different model. I stopped for a can of pop, a bite to eat and general lookaround. Not bad chicken strips with a full set of camping gear on. Dodgy signal, will edit and add pics tomorrow.
Little bit cold for the wine,The ideal temperature for serving Merlot is 60–65°F (16–18°C). This temperature range brings out Merlot's rich texture and balanced flavors. just a little advice from a veteran plonky
I'm usually a pinot grigot type of white wine guy, red is acceptable to me if chilled, but you are right. Proper temperature brings out the bouquet of flavours and aromas...... apparently , I just sup it, if it's nice, proper Yorkshire like
So I arrived in Peebles and I'm thinking maybe an alternative Triumph might give me something more. Now apparently these are dodgy handling, especially with the wife about, otherwise may be on the list!!! Not bad chicken strips for 10 days out with camping gear onboard. That's the spirit Note. I had to explain why I was taking the first pic to a local, as I was getting dodgy looks
Goes for a bite to eat and drink, then a wander around the shops. On my way back, a Tiger Explorer " adventure" bike comes around the corner. Traffic stopped. The very nice blond haired bird sat on the back ( hang on, I've been away from Home over a week ) seemed to be sat in the clouds. The guy goes into 1st and totally fooks it up. Bird sprawling, bike on deck and directly in front of me. I steps forward and asks if she was alright first, true gentleman you understand? Err, where are your gloves? I ask. Oh I forgot them! Wtf is the rider doing not asking her to go back for them? Anyways, him and I proceed to lift this ridiculous monstrosity up. Now either he wasn't playing or I was taking the lions share but F me that was far too heavy. Guy jumps back on and so did she after him using the sidestand for both of them How strong do people think these sidestands are? He had a nice green adventure jacket and trousers set on so he really struck me as " all the gear and no idea", then promptly confirmed it by stalling it again on set off Is first gear that high? Third go they disappeared, god she was brave
So Friday night was a repeat of location from the previous week, albeit a totally different way of getting there. Camp set up and then off for a wander.
