Looks to me like he put those crappy decals on to cover the damaged areas hence the pics with damage but no decals then ones with decals. The pic with one of them half ripped looks like it was deliberately ripped to be able to take the pic of the damage
So what would you recommend as a good deterrent when parked out n about - assuming standard factory alarm / immobiliser can be beaten Really asking as have been thinking about getting added security for my new bike (when it arrives) and the SAS said they are busy
I personally have a datatrac setup on my bike, have done since picking it up. This was kinda for peace of mind, but mainly because my insurance insisted on either that, or properly installed thatcham approved ground anchor (think: trip hazard) in my garage, with a thatcham approved chain and lock AND a thatcham approved chain+lock or brake lock for when out and about. I didn't want a trip hazard, and I didn't want the stress of thinking that if I didn't abide these caveats, that I'd get stung one day when something happens, and it was the time I happened to forget to lock it up, and therefore had no cover. I must say, the datatrac is really good. Sometimes I forget to deactivate it when moving the bike (and not starting the ignition), and quickly get a phone call asking if my bike is OK or if they should call the police. The system to be installed probably cost about the same as all the crap my insurance would have needed my to buy without it, and by comparison it's super convenient. Having said that, it's not a 'deterrent'. For that, you'll need a big, very robust, and very obvious chain or brake lock. Them's the only real options!
And even those won’t stop determined gangs (Need a gang for R3) from lifting the bike into a van, locks or no.
Yeah, I mean ultimately ... you can't stop a well prepared and determined thief from stealing. The best you can do is track them and try to recover the bike, and prosecute.
