According to Daily Ma*l today, "going for an occasional drive is fine if you do not get out and have a chat with anyone". Why can't that apply to bikes as well ?
Apart from the obvious of having an off and needing ambulance etc., but surely that would apply to social car driving too? Just to say, I'm going to leave my bikes in the shed until the crisis is over.
I feel your pain mate , invested in a new (to me) race bike for this year, spent the winter & a load more money getting it ready for the season, one track day spent setting it up, had it spot on by the last session , looking forward to the season .... then this!
I passed a police car sneakily sat in a layby Sunday while I was out on mine. I am worried that if he was using a speed gun ( very likely ) I am in serious trouble. I was really winding it on. He was on the other side of the carriageway. I didn't see him till it was too late. Watch this space...........
Thanks for that info johne. I thought it was maybe within a month. I'm watching the postie with trepidation.
bummer whilst not relevant to the main topic, but....I passed a copper with a speed gun at 8am on a Monday a few weeks back, ffs, luckily I pulled into a parking spot to set my sat nav for the last part of the journey to a new site, otherwise he would have had me as it is a 20mph zone, which is located in the arse end of nowhere and not near a school
Steve, What ? You mean it's not the fount of all knowledge and the briefing document for Boris ? I'll have to read something more serious, like MCN....
Not so sure ht. There was a wpc sat in the passenger seat. As I flashed past although slowing for an upcoming island, she was scrambling to get out of the car. I assume she was trying to clock my number plate.
Oh God, I do hope you are right DD. Thanks for the advice. I've hardly slept since Sunday worrying about it. I've got visions of a lengthy ban or even a bit of time doing stir.
Thanks DD, much appreciated advice. It's a bog standard tiger 800 xrt. I'll see what I can do to alter its appearance somehow. Plus I can stach all the clothing and helmet I was wearing. It's all kept in the garage next to the bike. Will keep you posted.
As logistics is essential service, we have all been given letters to show police. NZ police has indicated there will be road blocks and potential fines to reduce the idiots on the road. Day #1 of NZ lockdown today and roads sound quiet. Off to work soon
