Thanks Freck, I'll let you know. I've been keeping an eye out for a service manual on eBay. None of the Triumph manuals come up very often.
Here's the wiring diagram from the manual for a start. I've only got an A4 scanner unfortunately. Hope it's helpful. View attachment T509 electrical 1.jpg View attachment T509 electrical 2.jpg
Alright! Thanks!! Something that just occurred to me is this frame was painted. I'm the 3rd owner, the second owner said the 1st owner found some kind of defect in the frame and the dealership replaced it, him painting it first. I wonder if that paint job may have interfered with an electrical ground? Note to self - something to check if the problem persists...
In the UK the first batch of T595 and T509 were recalled due to fears of faulty welds around the headstock, these bikes all had the polished frame (Which looked superb) the new frame was powder coated silver. If you have changed all the relays and the fault does not reappear job done. To locate which relay is the fuel pump, just take out one at a time and switch on the ignition, if you do not here the fuel pump prime (squeaky noise from fuel tank) that is the one. NOTE! THIS WILL CREATE AN ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ! So you will need to take the bike out and up to full temperature 3 times for it to clear.
Thanks Freck - there's some other things I can do to prettier her up a bit more, like painting the subframe black..but that's after she's reliable!
Apparently USA bikes had the same problem. Would like to see one of those original polished frames - I bet they're stunning! Good tip on finding the fuel relay, thanks!
