Touring Rather loud pipes in Europe

Put a baffle in or change back to std pipes.It may get you nabbed especially in Switzerland where they probably woulden't be impressed.

 

Loud pipes are not a problem in France, just don't act like an arse or do stupid speeds on autoroutes. Remember there are approx 5,000 speed cameras as well.

 

Watch your speed in Switzerland is my only advice, fines are horrendous.

I've ridden in France, Germany, Holland, Spain, Austria, Andora and Belgium with very loud pipes on a Harley Lowrider and never been pulled over. That's not to say you won't but I think the Police have bigger problems to deal with. Just don't park outside a police station and Rev it.

 

A few years ago three English lads didn't heed the speed warning through the Mont Blanc tunnel. At the end of the tunnel they found the road blocked by a Gendarmerie helicopter. They were each fined 300€ on the spot and taken to the nearest distributeur de billets to get the cash. It cut their holiday rather short .

 

Two yrs ago while returning home 6 of us wher making good progress towards the Tunnel De Frejus one of the higher tunnels. When we got to the entry to pay the toll to go through the lady at the kiosk told us not to break the speed limit. However when approaching the entrnce to the tunnel, low and behold the Gendarmerie where waiting for us. They then escorted us through this very long tunnel atjust under the speed limit (over 25 mins) I suppose thats better than everyone getting a massive fine, because there is no doubt we would have nailed it. So in retrospect many thanks to those Gendarmerie for looking after us
