That brings back memories, was like the Waltons on acid Music nowadays, pfft, nothing like it was when I were a lad, I even appreciate my dads taste in music more than most modern stuff. ACDC, Pink Floyd plus all the 80s stuff, love it.
+1 for AC/DC & Floyd ..But the 80s When you think off all the great music stars it seems to me they either started in the 60s or 70s Beatles,Stones,Dylan,Floyd,Springsteen,Bowie,Hendrix,Marley,Zeppelin the list is endless..but to me (maybe it's my age) but the 80s must have been the worst decade for discovering new music stars..new romantics what the feck was that all about
just waiting on all the 30/40 odd year olds to come up with all the fantastic acts of the 80s just thought of one mega star from the 80s Madona oh and Michael Jackson.. although he started off in the 70s
I was born late 70s so I was brung up with 80s music, but agree, the 70s list is perhaps more suitable to the more discering audiophile.
well Mark I agree with you on most apart from and correct me if I'm wrong I don't think any of us got to vote "in" in the 70s and for the will of the people to be carried out would take a revolution, then we would be in the shit,I think maybe the coffee you smelt was instant
Man. Awesome picture. I had two EBTs, a male and female. They lived a long good life and my boy had a collar identical to the one in your picture. Brought back nice memories.
Nothing changes! Looking back over centuries the armed forces have been treated like shite unless you are one of the untouchables in the higher echelon. Read the poem 'Tommy' by Rudyard Kipling, it tells you all you need to know. Bastard solicitors touting for work to prosecute our heroes, F***king disgusting.
This particular case looks like the prosecution has been brought about by helmet mounted camera footage. Just the sort of comrade in arms you want with you when you're on active service. When our manby-pamby set of cowardly politicians looking for the popular vote finally deters future generations from joining the armed forces, who will be left to protect our shores and interests abroad ?
Surprised nobody has mentioned The Jam and Paul Weller yet. One of my favourites who has stood the test of time.
When I was going through infantry basic training in the 1960s, we did the usual section and platoon attacks and the like. We were very firmly instructed that on gaining an enemy position we were to put a bullet in every body we saw, alive or dead, to prevent any from coming back to life and getting you in the back as you went by. So when did this policy change.
A few decent bands did come to prominence the 80's to be fair including my absolute favourites, James and Yo La Tengo, then there's Stone Roses, Primal Scream, Happy Mondays, Prince & the Revolution, U2, Public Enemy, REM, The Pretenders, Husker Du, Sonic Youth, Joy Division (iirc), and Doll By Doll, the favourite of SWMBO. Yo La Tengo (Doll By Doll for SWMBO)
