    Always pointing towards Birmingham!
I’ve staggered past those sheds in the pic a few times with a pint of milk a newspaper at 7:30.

Where I am we designed them, built them, installed them and maintained them. We only have a reference gun now for trials and support of the system.
Can think of a few places to point it though!

Well, you could’ve made the manual hydraulic pump a lot bloody lighter so when I had to move it 2 decks up, I wasn’t covered in oil and knackered. I loved that gun btw.
Amazing to be there when in use. Simply amazing when the shell gets lifted and rammed in. Ah, memories...

We were helping you stay fit!
Remember doing the FAT for the ammunition hoist and carrying about 200 rounds back and forth. Jeez!

    Well, thanks! It’s receded somewhat...
I remember the amount of requests for the shell casings we “officially “ had to dump over the side that ended up as ashtrays.....
I said no to an officer request for one and it turned out to be the father of my girlfriend when I met them....
And, those fuc£ers were heavy at ammo ship time.
Also, when painting the mag with anti static bats and ovies on whilst listening to the first Bobby brown album on my aiwa cassette. Heavy to move from one side to the other!

    Has it changed much inside?
I was on HMS EXETER (type 42) which is now razor blades for 5 years and whenever I see it, (or the phalanx) I wonder if it’s the same but with a new radar bouncing cover but essentially the same?

Much less hydraulics, all electronics now but basically the same.
I was invited onto HMS Edinburgh on its final tour into Liverpool. Been on 23's but first time on a 42. Drinking cider bin the officers mess about 9:30 in the morning. What a day that was! :p:p:zzz::zzz:
