Talkin o crashing, my mate who I used to race with, sent me a couple o pics t'other day. We'd not bin doing it long, hence t'novice bibs. We were at Mallory. First pic is me (164) and him, Bob (163), at t'hairpin, havin just gone out for practice. T'second pic is Bob later t'same day at Gerards.
Only one I got pictures of was the one from Coppice at Donny, nowhere near as spectacular as your mate Foxy!
That's the 2nd bounce! It bounced 3 times, spinning all t'time. He was fine, as for t'bike, it dint take much room up int van going home! One ot long serving marshalls said he'd never seen a bike bounce as high, ont 1st bounce! One ot circuit photographers got a sequence o pics of t'bike from t'start of crash to t'end. Bob would've loved to have bought em, but he needed his money for a fibreglass repair kit and a roll o duct tape!
Yes mate , I think we raced in roadstocks together ? I was on a Gsxr 600 that year , raced number 135 if I remember rightly ... I'm sure I have a disc of photos somewhere , I'll try and dig it out.
Yeah, I raced my Mille int 750-1000 roadstocks, and mi mate Bob raced his R6 in your class. My other mate raced his 748 in my class. We called ourselves Team Soapy Tit Wank Racing, and had Tshirts printed.
Lol , I remember the T-shirts and your mate on the 748 ... Great times I Pitt'd up with Steve Thorp and Dave Stewardson
The pic ont T shirt was mine and his missus wit boobs out. He took t'photo, and I applied t'soapy foam. He got t'short straw there!! . He packed up after that season, but me and Bob did a further 2 seasons wi Derby Phoenix, although he came with us every weekend. I'm still in touch wi Rich Ryan, who also raced a GSXR600 in your class. remember him?
Great pics. Rich is on my facebook, dm me your proper name, and I'll mention you to him. Yeah, that's my mate Paul, with his 748. He went wide onto t'grass at exit of Gerards, and rejoined t'circuit at Edwinas. We nicknamed him t'farmer after that!!
Great pics, love the comment 'pretend I knew what I was doing' so bloody true for nearly every rookie racer! I always look faster in the pictures mate!
