Hi Baza, sorry for the late reply, I have been away in warmer climes. The gear selector shaft on the STRS is fairly long. I noticed that the shaft flexed a little, and decided it was the reason for some false neutrals and missed gears, however I was a little worried that this could place undue stress on the shaft, resulting in either a bearing failure or worse a snapped shaft, hence my fitting the Racetorx support, which transformed the gear changes to almost perfection, and there is no shaft movement, for the cost I would highly recommend fitting one, ironically 5 years down the line since noticing the flex and fitting the Racetorx, a number of owners are reporting broken shafts.
I revisited your previous posts on this only last week, I was deliberating the need to purchase or not. Your timely post here gives me the answer, cheers.
I fitted a similar Gilles support to the Fireblade 5 years ago and whilst false neutrals were rare beforehand I don’t recall any since.
Many thanks for this information. For the price, £50, it's worth the peace of mind knowing that you have done all you can to prevent that selector shaft from snapping which must be a total nightmare to fix, let alone the cost of having to do so. All the more reason to look at these selector shaft supports is that only yesterday one of our sons has purchased a Striple RS, a rather sudden yellow one.
