Considering replacing the stock pea shooters with Remus custom tapered slip-on exhaust. Hate having to remove exhausts just to adjust the chain. But with existing hearing loss do not want sound any louder. Quieter would be better. Any experience with Remus or suggest another after-market exhaust??
Have had my T120 for 6k miles now and have only had to tighten chain once and that was for the initial chain stretch at 500 miles. Was going to change silencers for the same reason as you but not going to bother now. As long as you look after your chain ,it seems adjusting it is going to be a rare event . Spend the silencer cash on the suspension instead. Cheers.
Thanks for the advice. I also keep checking my chain and it is still in spec at 4400 miles. How often do you clean and lube the chain? Every 200 mi seems like it is too frequent if not riden in the rain. My normal outings are 150-200 miles - would be lubing after every ride.
O-ring chains don't need frequent oiling. I lube only when it looks dry. Once every 1000km is a maximum. At 40000km when I sold my previous 790 Bonnie, the chain was still in good condition.
I put on the remus pipes, simply for the noise. But getting to the rear wheel is much better. I for one hate things that you have to remove just to get at the part needing adjusting or replacing, but I do own an Africa Twin, bit contradictory I know, but the sound of the triumph is intoxicating.
Lube chain around 300 miles but clean it every 600 especially if I have half Exmoor sticking to it. Not so often in good weather.
