They do a smooth rite as well so it may be an option for the tank... I think you can buy it in a Spray can as well...

Fitted the wiring harness, carb, kick start, handlebars & fuel tank tonight. Gave it a little bit of choke & it started 1st kick! Going to modify the gear selector tomorrow as its a rocker type lever & the lad finds the heel change a bit clumpsy so i will chop it off with the grinder & make good.
Yeah its fun having him help for the first half hour or so but then it just winds me up. I forget he is just a daft kid & i ask him to give me a particular tool & after passing me several different ones i just go & get it out the tool chest myself. He dont mind breaking things or hitting things with a hammer & wants to do the painting, but i have seen the mess he made when tried re-spraying his BMX because he couldnt be arsed to wait for me to do it. Took me ages to get the paint off the patio & the over spray off the fence.... Little b`stard! On the plus side he can make tea/coffee, open tins of beer & passes me my fags so its not all bad. :upyeah:
im trying to get my son involved and can sympathise.. my lad is 9 and its painful, that and if i leave him im sure he would cut a hand or leg off.... Worse still he don't make tea either...
My Dad's a joiner. I learned fairly early on not to try to 'help' by passing him things like chisels. Still got many scars...
My lad is 12 & if im honest I DO NOT TRUST HIM AS FAR AS I COULD THROW HIM! When we are in the mancave tinkering & i need a pee i make him come out & i lock the door until i return from the toilet. If i didnt i just know he would touch things that he knows he shouldnt.... Like my bike & my tools or worse.... my bike with my tools!
My old man was a mechanic & a paint sprayer, always tinkering in his workshop like a proper old school engineer, rebuilding engines, welding & fabricating etc & generally making the air go blue! I use to love sitting there as a kid watching him do his thing & asking.... Whats that? What does this do? What does that do? Can i have a go? Why? Best times were when i was in my late teens/ early twenties when he built me a 1380 lump for my old Mini, then we dropped a Metro turbo lump in it, he use to love helping me fit 2 litre pinto lumps with twin 40s in Mk1/Mk2 Escorts & fitting an RS Turbo lump into my Fiesta, then ragging down the lanes. Having said that the old fella probably thought the same of me when i was my lads age. They say the apple never falls far from the tree!
I once gave one of my kids a green paint pen to draw on an old zzr 1100 tank. Shouldn't of nipped out of my little workshop...when I went back in yep, she had then started on the good one, that was still on the bike.. Couldn't shout at her for that...I should of thought I through..
My old man was also a mechanic...which is why I have always messed about with engines and cars and now bikes..
New chain & sprockets fitted.... View attachment 2427 Heel change ground off of the rocker gear lever.... View attachment 2428 Cleaned oil filter, fresh oil & new spark plug fitted.
