    G'Day folks, Newbie to the Tiger 1050 owners club and Tune ECU forum. I have reviewed pages and pages of Website/Facebook discussions etc but I am struggling to understand some very basic Tune ECU details which I am hoping someone can assist me.

    I have recently purchased my first 2009 Tiger 1050 with 172kms on the clock. It is in great condition and stock with the exception of the Arrow can. I have purchased the USB/OBD cable and Tune ECU kit primarily for being prepared for fault finding etc. Currently, I have no desire to change the Maps etc as it seems to ride fine to me?

    Can I therefore please get some strait-forward advice as to:

    a) am I really missing out by not altering the maps/tune? and;

    b) what and how should I be using the tool for basic fault diagnosis and routine servicing etc? When I use the Test page it seems nearly all the tests are greyed out except for IDCV and resetting adaptation?

    Thanks for the patience in advance and any advise appreciated.

    Hi and welcoe, hopefully somebody will be along with a response to your question.... You might get a better reply if you post it in the technical section...

    The answer to your question is more likely to be found with this bunch:

    Hi and welcome. No, you are not missing out by not adding any maps and best not to fiddle with it if you do not know what you are doing. Your dealer will be able to advise and help if a new map is required following any performance mods.

    As for how to use the tool, have you managed to connect the ECU with the program? The software should show a green light after a series of red lights (attempting to connect) and your engine should be on (not running). Also make sure the OBD cable is from a reliable source (preferably not eBay) as most connectivity issues are due to an incompatible OBD cable which are sold everywhere on eBay. Lonelech is a good place to buy if you need one.

    Hi and thanks. I can connect to ECU fine I just don’t understand why most of my test functions are greyed out. I note the forums say that not all tests are available for all bikes but I am just trying to see how many should be available for my bike and how I best use it for routine maintenance and diagnostics?

    There are variations in what tests are visible between various bike brands. On Triumph, Sonde O2, Ignition coil and Injectors are not accessible but are available on, for example, KTM. This might have changed since I last use TuneEcu.

    As for the greyed out tests, try this: From the File menu, select Open Map File. This should allow the map's data to be uploaded to the grid. If the grid is colorful, do nothing more but go to Tests tab and see if additional tests are now available.

    If you can take a screenshot and post, that should help.
