Ellie is starting to settle in nicely. Still a few house training speed bumps but overall she's adapting beautifully! She especially loves her morning walks which we're extending now to 30-40 minutes. And her personality is starting to shine through. She's very playful and makes us smile many, many times throughout the day. And she's INCREDIBLY curious! It's fun to watch her explore and check out everything.
You guess correctly, @pistonbroke! She may be a year and a half old but she's more puppy than anything. But she's (thankfully) a fast learner and a super sweet girl.
I haven't been on the forum much for the past couple of weeks as some of you may have noticed. This is why! It has been really hot here--and I mean REALLY hot! High temps of 114-116ºF. We've been setting records like crazy. But we still are doing our best to get Ellie out each morning (early) for her walk. Here she is in her "Kool Coat" which works great to keep her cool. Now we just need to figure out how to get something like this for Mr. Sandi and me.
She looks a lovely companion @Sandi T ... cherish that! I'm sure she can't replace Annie, but a worthy successor, I'm sure!
Ellie is a truly lovely companion, @Vulpes. She certainly can't replace Annie--no one can as you know--but she has won us over and is a delight. And it's SO good to have a boxer back in the house. But......
Our thing is senior rescues. We go to death row at kill shelters and grab the doomed. Got this guy 1.5 yrs ago at 11 yrs old from SPCA. He'd been abandoned and in cages for 6 months and was a week or two from being put down. Has multiple heath issues, he's on a prescription diet, practically toothless, has a broken tail, and I have to spike him with 125 ml of Ringer's every 3-4 days to keep him hydrated. I doubt he'll last another year but we gave him a couple more years of comfort, free reign of the back yard, and all the food he can eat.. I'm partial to gingers.
Ellie on a rare rainy day at our house. This is the calmest she's been so far today. She's like a little kid when it's raining outside---bored and getting into trouble. Earlier today she got a bad case of the "zoomies" and went racing around the house at warp speed for about three minutes!
Awwww. Surely butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. Lol She sure looks settled with you, and that look, Mom stop this rain.
A couple of days ago things got very quiet in our house...too quiet. (See the photo in my previous post about silence being suspicious if you have boxers. It's true.) Then I heard Ellie playing and figured she had one of her toys. Nope. She'd grabbed Javier the Javelina off a shelf in the bedroom and was trying to kill him! Some of you know Javier to be my sometime ride mascot. You may not be able to tell from this photo, but poor Javier was completely and utterly wet. He now resides on a MUCH higher shelf out of reach--and sight. Ellie may be turning two-years-old in November but she's still such a puppy.
