Good on you mate. We spent that amount on our wee Bulldog. None race-related trauma's, but feckin' insurance refused to fork out... Anything for the little buggers eh?
Agree with all the above, But I still think vets prices are ridiculously inflated and should be looked at closely.
Had Rosie's tail amputated earlier in the year. Was initially quoted £1400. After a couple more visits prior to surgery I pointed out that we would be paying privately/ immediately, the operation ended up costing £600
Private plates like K9 VET and new Bentley estates have to be paid for some how! Although I dont begrudge this perticular vet as I know and trust him, he's not one of the rip off merchants, and a bloody good vets practice to boot! (Pengelly & Mizzen, Broadway, Peterborough)
We pay £22 quid a month for our Collie At two years old she caught her leg on a branch while running full pent and had to have it amputeded Initial vet visit to stabilise her £600 Super vets in Stevenage (60 miles away) for the amputation and two nights stay was £4,000 Insurance paid out straight away the max I had insured for of £3,000 rest I paid myself Glad i did as she is an absolute peach of a dog and best family pet ever. See first post on Page 1 of this thread for photos
Thumbs up. My beloved Yorkie was the closest I've ever come to having a child. Hamba kahle little one.
since my Sprint had been taken from me and I stupidly sold my Bonnie, I only had my 1967 Honda CT90 and a Yorkshire Terrier to tour Jersey with.
Still have my girls ashes so who knows, plan was to scatter her but maybe we bury them in our garden. Still loads of time to decide what's best path for us to take, but with or without ashes there's no doubt she will always be with us forever. God bless JESS
It's suddenly got very cold here, so the boys are getting their blankets out : https://photos.app.goo.gl/PiLW8W6xnRVAQugP6
Still have Holly`s ashes can`t bear to scatter them, I always get a lump in my throat, but then I look at Nelly and smile.
Had our beloved Ella, a Golden Retriever, cremated - she developed a nasty aggressive bone cancer and we had to make that hard decision to have her put to sleep. It was clearly the kindest thing to do, still didn't make it easy. Anyway, we decided that we couldn't scatter her ashes at home, as if we ever shift from here it just wouldn't feel right. So, we took her to one of her favourite spots at our local beach, a rock pool that is uncovered uncovered at low tide, and deep enough to swim. She used to enjoy jumping in with a huge sploosh from the side, even though from one side you could just walk in from the sand. We tipped her ashes in the pool and can always go there. My daughter even has a tattoo of the latitude, longitude coordinates... So, here's a picture of our current Golden Retriever, Tui, having a swim in same said hole. I always picture them together, sad old sook that I am...
And now for something completely different. But the same dog, Tui... We have been being annoyed by a few pesky pukeko (a native swamp hen, fekking noisy squawking things that peck huge holes in the grass. Not had them coming on our section before, but some started this year. So, in an attempt to dissuade them, I'd let the dog out (if she was inside), charging out the ranchsliders, leaping off the deck, barking furiously. Thing with pukeko, is that they would rather walk / strut / run than fly - they take off only at the last moment and with a lot of flapping required. For three weeks, they have escaped in to the bush, dog in hot pursuit, coming back a few minutes later with bush litter and crap all through her. But yesterday... the small one didn't get off the ground... What a clever doggy... she was so proud of herself. She brought it up to me to show me her prize, but there was no way I was going to be given it. She sat in the middle of the lawn, ate the whole lot, head first, legs and wings next, then the rest, feathers as well. Strangely enough, the other two pukeko have not returned...
This is our Ella, she is huddled in the smallest spot she can find, next to our bed. TV is on with some nice Japanese animation and music. SWIMBO tried lifting her onto the bed but got a growl. Never has she raised a growl to anyone so we need some better distraction for her.
Bonnie's 1st year of the fuckin things, but not bothered in the slightest, in fact she stands in the garden and watch's them, all except the big bangers, then she's not quite so sure! The other 3 greys, 2 not bothered but Inca is a bit concearned but not too frightened. I feel so sorry for the greyhounds that are still made to race even when fire works are going off next to the track premises!!
