Alright, so who's had Whisky from a Quaich?

Unsurprisingly, yes. Personally, I think the potential for spillage, is too great...
The one you need to be wary of, is the Orcadian Cog. Often produced at weddings, with ingredients passed down through the family.
First one is lovely, the second, (if you're daft enough), will have you on your arse. One of my mates hit the floor wearing only his kilt because he was that daft.:dizzy:

I think every modern Triumph I've owned has done this. Quite alarming at first.

    Enjoy your trip.

It was part of a welcome ceremony at a previous workplace ;)

The Nightstorm is the same but it will only start to register once you set off, it won't do it if it's just static and idling.

Yes I get that @Helmut Visor and @Johnjo but I was referring to the loss of register overnight.
Last night it showed full when I stopped, which given the recent fill up was as expected.
This morning on start up it was warning of zero range.

It's a strange issue, as it's behaved itself the rest of the day and gave no cause for concern prior.

Agree, they all do it but newer models register a lot quicker once you ride off.

Is the " Orcadian cog" part of the same ritual where they take you through the local town slowly on a pickup, you draped in tar or something, and your attendees are all banging a drum?

Seen that in Orkney and wondered what on earth was going on so asked a shopkeeper.
Is it the bride or groom, I can't remember now?

I am partial to a single malt but have never quaffed from a Quaich.

Never exerienced that before. Seems like the ECU got confused. Is your battery good and terminals tight?

Only seen it the once @Eldon and it was at the wedding. All the women on the Orcadian side disappeared into the kitchen, only to return with this two handled bowl of warm hooch. You will never get the contents out of them, but in moderation, it's lovely and it gets passed around everyone. It's a welcome to our family type thing.
My mate Ronnie, who was a rascal anyway, got greedy and went back for seconds. It took four of us to wrestle him to the floor before the kilt went west with the rest of his kit.
It could be part of a stag ritual as well, who knows. It wouldn't surprise me.

Yes good point, they should be, but are they?
Battery is good, perfect cranking every time.
Maybe the miles have loosened them off, I'll check both tonight.

    Cheers @TRIPLE X

Well whilst in Dornoch I had a look around the shops but did a double take at one. I initially read it as "Hairy Cow" thinking it was a butchers, but in actual fact it read "Harry Gow" and it's a bakers
Steak pie and Quiche emergency rations stashed, and we're off on a short run down to Tain.

What was with the shed on the concrete block? Was it some kind of hide as I couldn’t work out another reason why the double doors would be on the end with no access

Arrived in Tain and I wanted to have a wonder around, but call into one shop in particular.

Macleods of Tain is a very comprehensive shop for all outdoors related activities and tools.

    https://rmacleod.co.uk/

My motorbike binos have been around now about 10 years and the clarity is diminishing. They were only cheap in the first place, our household are quite optical connoisseurs with the makes such as Leica and Schmidt and Bender, but I just wanted something relatively cheap but more importantly compact.
    These fitted the bill nicely.

Admin assist ...... Post 117 and 118 are in the wrong order but can't be bothered typing it all out again.

Tain was quite a step back in time in that they still close for dinner.
Naturally I get there five minutes past dinner start
Ok I'll go to the chemist to get a few bits.... nope, they're shut as well.
In fact all you can buy is houses (Estate Agents) and Bakery products :joy:

Ok maybe I'm exaggerating but that's the narrative :)
So there's nothing for it but to crack out the emergency rations and watch the waves go by...... I could get used to this.
The Quiche was homemade ham and cheese, yummee :yum

Calling on my way at this local shop for a nosey, let's see what pops out ;)

    Ooh look what I see?

Safely stashed in amongst my other goodies, and I'm on my way.
You can see the steak pie fighting to get out of the bag :joy:

If you've been to Invershin and crossed the railway bridge, then this may ring a bell.
