Ha ha, yes, you're not wrong @Eldon, and yes, the price of super unleaded is a joke up here. There was none to be had in Dingwall last night, and no 95RON either!!

£129.9 at Tow Law I think it was, small garage, not a supermarket..... but that is a bit of a run from Dingwall :joy:

And here's the end of today's travels.
Time for a shower, recharge and a couple of pints.

The Invershin, had a few good nights in there, far more years ago than I care to remember. Watch out for the ducks on the road heading south.

    Oh, and enjoy that pint...;)

Wife thinks I'm mad camping but I enjoy it. Book yourself into a hotel and have some comfort she says, we can afford it and you deserve it, but old habits die hard.
Solitude comes easy, yet she says I'm a sociable person, but it gives you time to think and clear your head.
When younger, I never had any money, mortgage, kids, life etc. I was always mending my OLD bikes or other peoples vehicles, or making something for someone to make extra cash, besides working full-time. Fitting new headgaskets or clutches at 23.00 with work next day at 07.30 etc.
As soon as I got any money, we moved and I ramped the mortgage up.
My dad died (suicide) and he had nothing left, no inheritance or anything, in fact it costs me to recover his body.
I said to myself this wouldn't be the case for my sons.

Why am I telling you this?

You don't need money for adventures, you just need a vision, determination and a touch of resilience.
    Work hard, spend wisely.
Stop the clock ticking on existing and do what you dream of as time flies by, whether you like it or not!

What bike do I need for xyz adventure?

ANY, just set off on what you have and Enjoy.

Youth is wasted on the young so the saying goes, and it is very true.

    20250825_095936.jpg

There endeth my philosophy lesson for today.

Motorhomes make you soft and decisions easy, you know like, do we take a few bottles of white wine, or red darling?

Err just put both in, as we have the space and no doubt will sup 'em all at some point.....:imp:

Right so going to Scotland on a motorbike is risky isn't it, I mean it'll be freezing and raining all the time, yes?

So goretex Richa top and bottom BUT WITH OR WITHOUT LINERS?

    Ooh I dont know.
I best put them in to be on the safe side...... so I did :)

God have I been melting these last few days with temperatures hovering around the late 20's C plus. :dizzy:

    20250825_161302.jpg

First job at Invershin, strip out those liners. I'm having a few nights here, so travelling light tomorrow with the majority of my stuff left behind.

When I leave home I aim to pack about 90% full so everything doesn't need to be surgically stored when repacking, but those were just too much bulk after I bought a couple of things en-route.

Tomorrow WILL be a lot cooler ;)

Thanks, @Eldon. ;):) Hey, there's my Low Rider ST in the bunch. That blue bike with white stripes and a fairing. Fast Johnnie. I never see those "in the wild" (so to speak).

Those things love me. I tease (envy really) Steve that he doesn't need insect repellent when I'm around because they'll just flock to me. :(

Some of you will know what these are......

    20250725_091340.jpg

Now, that isn't from this week as it's one of my previous ones.

If wild camping then do be mindful and check yourself, groin and crack are favourite spots for these, as they can carry Lymes disease.
Last night after a shower, I found x2 on my right shin and x1 aiming for my right knacker.

At the nymph stage they are tiny i.e. pin head.
Once gorged on your blood they swell to have a pea like body.

Horrible little bastids of things Ticks, I'm forever getting them off one of our cats.
Thankfully, I've not had any for a while, but you will pick them up when anywhere near bracken.

    Death by fire every time...:D

Today started with wet roads, which isn't a problem as this is a leisurely day, stay localish you know, and explore the immediate area.
Immediate area in Scotland might have a different meaning to elsewhere, but my definition is within a half hour ride.
I'm now in Dornoch and spotted this rather apt poster given my previous post.

Oh and I forgot, has anyone had this happen before?

I filled up last night, so I knew the tank was around 90% full this morning. I put the key in and it said zero range and asked me to acknowledge it like it does. I acknowledged it then turned it off.
Switching it back on it still said zero so I started thinking someone had siphoned my tank overnight, whilst it was parked up.
I took the tank bag back off for a visual inspection and sure enough it was around 90% full.
Proceeding to set off down the road, it does take a time to register, it soon popped up on the gauge as indeed a full tank.

    Strange!

    Can anyone explain?

I can't explain it, but that happens on my Speed every time I fill it up. No buttons to press on my one, but as I ride off, the gauge creeps up one bar at a time to full.
    Very strange.
