I'm really enjoying your ride report, @Eldon. Thanks for sharing your adventures! :kissing_heart: But, wow, I can't imagine packing my Speed Triple for a road trip the way you've packed yours. I'll just take my Harley touring bike, thank you very much. ;):joy::joy::joy:

It's all about covering the bases @Sandi T with versatility and no excesses, but ensuring some comfort.
The bike handles really well and even gave a Ducati a run for it's money, with the guy ending up waving me past :joy:
My recently new air bed sleep mat is wonderful. I read the reviews and decided my Karimat sponge mat days were numbered as I wanted something better.
Read up on a " Sea to summit comfort plus sl" if of interest?

    Certainly worth the money.

    PDQ sandals are another.
Comfortable, easy to get on, pack up small and can walk miles without blisters. OK sometimes I might wear them with socks  if my feet are cold
    :joy:
They're even good for paddling and dry quickly.

Not being a camper, when you say "water source nearby" I'm assuming you boil it before use?

I deliberated whether to post this on or not, but here goes as I think it's a very valid point.... @Bikerman will it hit the fan
Well, I'll leave this here.... not.

I don't agree with making a mess of the countryside and if we expect people to clean up after dogs etc then what's the difference?
All this nonsense about vehicle emissions, let's think about the actual real mess we are making of the planet, and consequently leaving behind for our future generations?

Posted into a dog bin yesterday morning.

Yes normally, although smaller out of the way places I have used it direct.
Big streams and rivers, definitely yes.

You know when you've put your gloves on, only to realise the ignition key is in a pocket somewhere : unamused:

Well I can go one better :confounded:

Where's the disc lock and ignition key?

    20250824_085404.jpg

Yep, it's in the tent internal pocket ffs

We do that with the motorhome and normally I'm quite good with the bike keys but last night I stepped out of the routine; certain pockets, certain tasks.
Anyway issue resolved and away for 09.30.

And if I want a cold drink I.e. dilute pop, then I carry one of these with known good water in, either from a tap or previously boiled.

For camping on the ZZR, which I've not done for a while now, I use an Oxford Roll, a sort of large cylindrical holdall, strapped securely to the pillion seat along with some Oxford throwover panniers. Well strapped down it's all very secure and stable right up to xxx mph.:p
I just cannot get on with a tank bag.
A tent, inflatable mattress +pillow, 12v pump, sleeping bag, small propane stove, enamelled steel cup (goes straight on the stove) change of clothes plus toothbrush + paste. That leaves a bit of room for some milk + tea bags and a few snacks. Using established camp sites rather than wild camping means water and toilet facilities are readily available which is just as well as I like a comfortable seat for No. 2's and time to read the paper! :grinning:

This for NW200 excursions and staying in digs....

    ....and this for camping.

20250510_120313.jpg Agreed @Pegscraper I wouldn't wild camp on the bike. I bought a nice 40L bag off Amazon to take to Spain. Cheaper than Oxford and colour matched, almost :)

These roads above Blairgowrie are ace and I never get tired of doing them.

Today's a bit picture heavy, especially for @Sandi T and the signal here is dire, so you might have to wait until tomorrow night for today's episodes.

Here's a taster.... nope not happening.
