And this is why you need a tent with a decent porch.
Inner sleeping area stays dry, all wet items stay outside the inner but still undercover. Helmet, gloves, the lot is in the porch and the chair is brought in, rain overnight looks likely.

I like your thought, but a 200m walk gave you adequate signal.

I can't see anyone guessing this as it's certainly not something I've even remotely thought about, previously.
The penny didn't drop until I got into the sleeping bag and everything went quiet....... but only for a few minutes
What the hell, don't tell me I'm directly under the landing flight path into Edinburgh airport!!!
    :eyes:

    Oh FFS.

It seemed like every few minutes another came and throttled back with it's high pitched whine.

But eventually it wasn't an issue anymore :zzz::zzz:

As they say, everyday is a school day  must think about it more thoroughly in future :joy:

    What worked well;
    The 765.
It just does the job so well whether thrashing along, dawdling or somewhere in between. A guy came up to me whilst I was sat on a bench at Dornoch beach. He had a Z900 but even he said, Triumph just got the gen 1 765 spot on from day one.

    Oxford Aqua bag.
Despite the absolute drenching, and I'd put my shorts in the tankbag as a last minute thing so they were soaked, EVERYTHING in the Aqua bag was bone dry. I do bag things up internally in dry bags but there was absolutely no sign of moisture.

    The sea Summit bed mat.
I discarded the bag they supplied it in as they designed it to be folded in half lengthways, making it a short but bigger diameter cylinder. That package wouldn't work for me, I wanted a longer sausage
A Lomo dry bag offered the right dimensions making it compact yet not silly to remove and refit.

    Msr xgk.
This stove just works....... OK it had a hiccup and it's not for chefs.
    Power, baby, power.
Switch on, do something else, build a chair, blow up the air bed.
    Come back, boiling water.
    Tea.:)

    Richa goretex.
Considering the volume of water encountered, these did extremely well. Not only did they cope admirably but they gave me enough confidence to take no other bike waterproofs (I did take a casual waterproof for a walkaround at night).

My packing had a few points to be aware of both for thought, and consideration, if thinking of doing something similar;-

I tried to keep the ends of the bike balanced, weight wise. The camping kit did not affect the handling of the 765 at all.
This is not the case for the 900 ST as it jumps better with more rear bias
Different bikes will vary so try it on a short test run and you might be surprised which works best.

The tent is packed last on, first off. That way everything can be packed away in the dry (inside the tent) even if it's raining.
Likewise when arriving, tent up first, everything into the porch.

All items in the Aqua dry bag are also packed in dry bags individually. Nothing wet is included. All wet gear i.e. socks, go in the tankbag.

The tankbag carries all the food and drink, including stove fuel. That way, any leaks are only a minor issue, milk being an obvious one, but there's no point in crying about it :joy:

The tent discipline is strictly, dry inner tent, wet porch.
A sleep in a wet sleeping bag with your skin wrapped in towels etc isn't much fun, been there done that

I'll try and do some random pic groups, trying to avoid duplication, but some may get through.
