Hi folks. After many years of wanting one i finally picked up a 96 trident...green and cream...13k miles and really mint. Has micron slip ons....but also have stock pipes...I may go back to the stickers. 2 questions 1. Stock photos seem to show the rims to have a a silver outer rim...mine doesn't have that..but I would have thought the wheels were stock 2. At right off idle there is a bit of a stumble...more of an issue when you're at steady state at that throttle opening. Is their a air or fuel screw that I can turn to perhaps resolve this...the rest of the throttle range is perfect. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from the group.
Hi, gasanders and welcome. Great bike - I know this because I've had mine over 22 years from new. As far as I am aware your bike should have the unpainted - and highly polishable (is that really a word?) - alloy edge on the wheel rims. Try putting the original exhausts back on to see if the pick up improves. If the bike has been stood for a while the carbs may have become slightly gummed up inside (crap petrol/gas evaporating and leaving behind a residue) and will benefit from a goodly slug of fuel system cleaner (I use Redex which may or may not be available to you). After one winter lay up, my Trident was very hesitant on pick up until it got a dose of Redex, after which normal service was resumed. Look .... shiny wheel rims!! Just saying!!
Just had a thought (strange but true, and now my brain hurts!) about the pick up .... the valve shims should have been checked and re-set where necessary at 12,000 miles. If they have not been done it would be wise to have them checked, as starting and general running will be much improved if they are set correctly. Right .... I'm off to a dark corner to lie down and rest.
If you are in the States I use Seafoam to clean the fuel system on my older bikes and cars. It works wonders and is available at WalMart and probably any auto parts store. It may be similar or even the exact same stuff as Stevethegoolie was reccomending (Redex)
Thanks folks...I am Stoll stumped over the fact that no,e has gold 6 pot calipers...was it an option when new?
Only on the Daytona 1200 I believe, they are available from sprint manufacturing ....... But you may be better off sticking to the 4 pot calipers that were fitted to the trophy from 94 on as the 6 pot calipers apparently suffer from corrosion behind the seals and require regular maintenance ( strip / rebuild ) due to being machined after the final coatings were applied whereas the 4 pot calipers were coated after all machining was done
Please excuse my earlier typos...what I meant to say was that mine has the gold 6 pot calipers....and I'm not sure why...perhaps an earlier owner upgraded.? I wasn't sure if any came with it or was ordered with it...thanks for all the feedback
As far as I know they would probably be upgraded by a previous owner, the parts listings show only the two piston calipers fitted to the front of the trident throughout its production. http://www.worldoftriumph.com/trium...?block_01=&block_02=304385-0-2&block_03=70124
Hi folks...here is a picture of the new bike...and a close up of the wheels and calipers. It would seen that the rims were painted as they are clearly triumph poem. Hope to spend some more time with the bike this week as I have been traveling...thanks again for all of the feedback. I was wondering what brand of wimdscreen is being shown on the black and red trident earlier in this thread...I'd likely do the same with mine
Sorry mate but the pic didn't make it. Theres a thread about steve's bike here:- https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/1995-trident-900.2823/
