I'm going to check out a '98 Thunderbird Sport next week. Asking price is $2800. Current odometer shows 27k but the odometer was replaced so exact mileage is unknown. Any advice for things to look out for/check? Appreciate any help!
Dilltusi. Check for service history. Check thing like bodged wiring. Run your fingers around the disc's and that is a good sign of mileage. General running you will hear any unusual noises around the head. Always ask to hear the bike start from cold. But they are a pretty sturdy bike and if serviced correctly they last for ever. Ride Safe Joe.
Make sure battery is good, you don't want sprag problems, if it clatters when turning over walk away. Brakes , tyres-check tread and age of tyres if old, oil and service history-valve check is every 12000 and expensive , all controls, forks for leaks or pitting, gears change ok, chain and sprockets.
