Hi , theres two wires, red and black, ive had the float out and tested it for the correct resistance and alls good , this is why im puzzled
Hi , both wires come from the fuel float and plug into the fuel pump inside the tank , then theres the external connections on the underside .
do The wires that goes to the variable resistor(sender float) is there a earth a wire or is the earth the body of sender going to tank ??
All wires are present and correct and can only be fitted to their correct corresponding part.the fuel gauge just stoped working.up to that point i had never had the tank off or touched any wiring .
Yep Peters spot on earthing one of them wires (the correct one) should get the guage to read full and as he says eliminates the guage and tank side of wiring from the senario
So , if im understanding this right , your saying that the wires that clip into the bittom side if the tank that come from the float , i should connect one of those to a different earth and in theory that should work ? I know nothing lasts forever but its only five years old , had kawasakis for 20 years and never had an electrical fault , thanks for your help though guys
You do need to pick the correct wires to test that goes to the float sensor, the Japans are bloody clever but its a bit boring if things don't go wrong and it keeps the Triumph after sales in work.
Thats the problem, theres two connections on fuel tank , one is for fuel pump , the other is for float, think its best to leave alone , then theres the occasional slow starting problem , trade in comes to mind ! Japs all the way !!!
