I somewhat understod when mfg's started deleting ctr stands. I mean, the bike still functions w/o one & with current economic woes across all levels of society I covinced myself to not add to much negativity to that point..... BUT, When will it end???? I just ordered the top 2 gaiter clamps for a current Bonnevile. $2.57 (US). Ok, I says, ship'em. "Hang on" my parts rep says, "do you want the clamp screws too?" "Huh? What?" Mutters I. "Yeah, their not included with the clamp. At least they're $.04 cents less @ $2.53. I started laughing incrediously, possibly maniacally, i don't remember. I then said the next time I'm in the shop I hope there's a discreet place where I can bend over to receive my clamps & screws. REALLY??? Yes, fellow riders, really
100thmonkey, not so obvious grasshopper. Had 5 H-D's 2007 to last yr. Got'em out of my system but admire H-D's history & survival. Sprinter, what's a quid amount?
Thanks DD, I appreciate the thought. By the way those prices were each; $2.57 x 2 & $2.53 x 2 Yeehaw! Hahahahahehehehohoho.
The secret is to first find out exactly what size and thread the bolt/nut is and providing its not a one off special, look for it at your local fastener store, of look on eBay and save ££££.
Thks Steve My main point here was missed I think. It's not so much the price breakdown of the 2 parts, I suppose to make a $5.10 sent clamp seem less expensive. It's just beyond my comprehension that a clamp would be offered for sale w-o the screw. What good would it be? It's not a functioning clamp that way. IS IT JUST ME????? Next I suppose I'll visit my hardware store to replace a toilet seat & have to purchase the lid separately. I'm not mad, just incredulous. Have a nice day everbody
The bolt was 6.99 and the P and P was 3.99. Top bolt for mono shock, shouldered to a certain depth, and 4 inch long, 1,25 thread, Allen. By the time I found it on line it would have arrived, not a good argument but the only one I have.Thats how they get you!
I had been wondering the same. As Sir Winston said, We are one people separated by a common language!
I’ve always found: https://www.namrick.co.uk/index.html good for the automotive rather than more industrial fasteners, p clips etc.
