    I believe it's a Matchless 350 single. It's my dad's, taken before I was born!!
    I thought it may be early 60's but there seems to be a tax disc with 58. Taken in Ceylon

    Great picture there Garfield. Wonderful family souvenir.

    Flip-flops - no flip-flops :eek::eek::eek:

    Nice piccie! Hard to tell if it is a 350 (G3) or a 500 (G80) as they are pretty much the same bike ... the 350 has a 72mm bore as opposed to the 500 having a bore of 86mm, both having the same 85.5mm stroke. (Details as per Classic Bike Guide buyer's guide ... I'm not that clever!!:p). Tall engine though!:eek:

    BigLad, Can't believe you spotted he wasn't wearing his protective flip-flops. They were sticklers for Health + Safety in those days.

    I would say its about 1956 looking at the shock on the back and is a 350cc

    God that takes me back,I had a Matchless 350 in 1970, wish I still had it now. I could never get it running properly and gave it away ( I was given it free in the first place, that never happens these days,lol) , I know a little more about engines now than i did at 16 and am sure i could have got it running today
