Thank you all so much. I just rang my insurers back and it's now going to my Triumph Dealership . The guy I initially spoke with gave me the impression that I was obliged to use their designated repairer. Apparently not so.
I am so glad you are going through Triumph. You will not regret it. next time I see you, you can buy me a beer lol
Well done for getting back to them Angie and to t552, main dealership is certainly the best place for your bike. Hopefully it will be back with you looking as good as new real soon.
Sorry to hear about the damage Angie. As the big lad said there are street twin tanks on eBay including a jet black one. Bidding is at £125 right now. Good luck!
Awww...bad luck Angie. That is heart breaking I know. I have seen tank dent repairs done with compressed air so that may be an option. I also did see a used tank on ebay two days ago...I remember because I thought it was strange but I just looked for you and it is gone. But that is an option as well. There is also this option. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tank-prot...540345&hash=item5b2db78b4e:g:3UwAAOSw4shX7uEu Not sure what your thoughts are just putting it out there for your consideration. Good luck!! Post an update when you can.
Welcome Angie. Glad to see your bike is sorted now. I learned my lesson using approved repairers in the past. Totally useless idiots they were. You don’t have to use them at all. You have a choice of who works on your bike. The insurance company is working on your behalf after all. The thing with approved repairers is that they've bunged money at the insurance companies to get the contract. It’s not on how good or bad they are but how much they are willing to give the insurance companies. Also if you had bought a tank of eBay and it was in good Knick, then why swap back to the original after it was repaired I would have just sold the original via gumtree or eBay. Saves the work of taking the one off and decanting fuel etc.
Only just seen the end of this tale. Here is chapter and verse on your legal rights: https://www.motorclaimguru.co.uk/your-rights-as-a-consumer.html The insurers get stung too. Despite me saying I would take £8k for a write off (in 1990) the Norwich Union ended up paying £11,200 to a German repairer who did the body but failed to spot a cracked adapter plate that had the clutch acting as a cv joint to the gearbox. That flew apart on the autobahn 200 miles from home.........they paid for that too but not the embuggerance.
Hi guys. My Street Twin was delivered back to me yesterday morning from being repaired at my Triumph dealer. She is looking as good as new! I’m very happy with it and so glad I went through my insurance and the dealer to get it done. Thanks again for all your input and help.
