A little while back I suffered a break down while in Derby. You'll be pleased to hear it wasn't my Sprint, it was actually my Honda Deauville (Yes, even those can break down, although it's just a broken wire in the immobiliser, but enough to stop it starting). I live in Birmingham, so needed to get the bike home before I could repair it. Thankfully a friend kept the bike in their garage and I looked into either hiring a van or getting a company to move it. I contacted a couple of transport companies and eventually booked The Bike Movers. https://www.thebikemovers.co.uk/ It worked out that by the time I'd hired a van, got a ramp and straps (Or got a van with a tail-lift), put fuel in and actually taken a day off work, the quote they gave me was going to be much cheaper, plus they're insured for the task, experienced and the van has wheel clamps and strap points. They were quick to get a quote to me, accommodating, friendly and helpful. What more can you ask for. They operate in the Midlands.
I was in a similar fix as you a while back. I too contacted various delivery services. They could all do it cheaper than me hiring a van plus full. So, in the end, i went with Specialised motorcycle transport. The story goes, Bought a bike in Scotland but didn't like the idea of riding a Yamaha YZ 250( made road legal) home to Sussex. The idea was to have the bike with me in a week. SMT delivered it to my home for under a ton. To get the price they picked up and delivered other bikes on route. Highly recommended.
