Another tip for discoloured headers is get some Harpic Max toilet cleaner fro a quid in your local pound shop (its the one in the black and orange bottle) and a couple of pairs of nitrile gloves, squirt it on the headers and watch it fizz, agitate it with a scotch pad then wash off and if you want the headers to look like the SV above, get an old t-shirt, tear it into strips then wrap a strip twice around each pipe with some solvol and pull the strip back and forth around the pipe then buff off. It'll take you roughly an hour and will look like the ones above.

    The tips keep flying!
The headers look good.. I used the Harpic trick on my 600 a couple of years back. didn't do it on this one for some reason.

Def if you can make some money...have a look at this
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-fireblade-rrt/382675491047

I contacted the owner said needs around another £500 in tires, bearings, cables to finish off. Would have gone to view but its 2.5hrs from me. Seems like a bigger project than I would usually take on so have asked a mechanic mate if hes interested and build it together.

Always harder putting someone else's work back together!

I've rescued a couple of 1990's Honda's. they make good winter projects (although it's a labour of love, as there is very little profit in them), they come apart easily and have superb build quality. The last one was a rattle can painted track day shitter.

which I turned into this. (I sold it earlier this year)

I'm currently on the search for another. Watch this space!

    Wow thats a proper job!

Far outside my capabilities. How long did you spend on that? Theres a few about that need quite a bit of work..i tackle most things but paint isnt one of them.

Took about 9 months and lots of swearing and grazed knuckles. I also did a CBR600F at the same time which wasn’t the brightest of ideas, but when one comes along at £500 it would be rude not too!

I take it you grabbed the one in the earlier post with all the NOS parts?

I’d never buy one in pieces, you can easily blow £500 in OEM bits that are missing (or vital missing parts are no longer available). Always buy a complete bike, never buy one that’s been sat outside, and never buy a non-runner. Thems my rules!

Really wouldn't touch that one? He did seem a bit stressy when i asked for some info more than what his advert said, i said thanks and all i got was "another time waster is that it thanks"!!
Seems as though I'm too late.

Hi Glyn, yeah 2.5k isn't alot, racked up 13k in one year.

The bike is in better condition than I thought apart from the new shock I had to put in...but now if i can't sell it I have another bike!!

Ironic, that I've just been reading your thread on the Fireblade.org site and posted that it was a pity about the loss of the old pics.

    Nice job.

I Was supposed to have purchased the stripped project from a few pages back today. Had over 30 pics from the guy in kidderminster of all the NOS parts he had to go with it and agreed to purchase it today and although he seemed up for it and made the right noises, when the time came to get his address I couldn't get a reply from him. Strange!

That was good buy if you did get it, guessing he had most of the parts needed to finish and decided to do it himself.

Not many on the net, give it a couple of months and will be flooded with them.

Managed to get out on mine a couple weeks back and its spot on, new suspension made the world of difference.

He had a LOT of new old stock parts and everything that wasn't new was re-plated!

Think I have just found a 97 RRV for the right money. Not perfect but ok. Pretty clean and only 19k on the clocks.
If it happens I'll stick some pics up.
