Thanks i think the guy gave me that book.

I'll have to give it a good clean, covered in road grime.

Whats the best way to tart up the forks, the front has road rash but not deep pitting?

The quil exhaust is very quite too but its been set up to that so dont think i will touch it.

A couple of pics of yours would be good too!

Nice one for the money, looks clean enough too.

Here was mine, identical bar exhaust and seat cowl.

Here's my 97 with 98 paint. Paid £1800 for it and swapped it for the first Daytona T595 I had although the Blade was more focused, the Tona was good though. Both were great bikes but the fat blades (98-99) were a little softer as confirmed in the report above.

    Heres my old Tona.

    All three look good.

Admir hondas they are really well thought out. Took me an hour to take everything off.

Guy said the front needs new pads.

an hour............try stripping down the back end off an RR9 Blade. :tired_face:All the fixings and tabs are hidden, and to remove the rear peg hangers it'll take you roughly 2 hours or more as all the bodywork aft of the tank has to come off then you have to remove both halves of the subframe to get to 2 x bolts! Thats why people fit Sato Race hooks as the bolt holes for the hangers are outside the body work! Although they do go VERY well. One of my favourite bikes.
Put mine back to standard when I part ex'd it against the Street Triple R. It was in the shop 24 hours when another dealer (CMC) saw it when collecting a batch of bikes and took it! They marked it up at over a grand on what the dealer wanted!

Thats not a bad price. Not sure what the price is now though. Edit 290 now

Going to ring MCT on Monday, only 30 mins from me. See if they can fix this old one.

Got the forks sanded ready for paint and calipers cleaned up

Why a 918? I’ve owned a couple of Blades and I would recommend an earlier 893, the first Foxeye Fireblade with the magnesium cylinder head is probably the best and wildest to ride and you can still bag a decent one this time of year for around £3000 (£2000 3 years ago)

I like the later 954 but due to age the insurance was wild so went for the 918 and love the colours. Maybe next one a 893.
The 918 still has mag heads.

Its the wrong time of year to sell but will leave it in the garage of it doesn't for now.

Have also looked at the 400s but most have been raced or abused so would take alot to fix up and probably not recoup the money.

I agree too, my Triumph Daytona cost me a very reasonable £1250 but after doing the necessary with the linkages, rear hub, powder coat, etc, by the time it went I only just broke even.
The bikes which do seem to be fetching strong money you might want to keep an eye on, are the 1978 onward CB750/900/1100’s.
Been watching them recently and you can find a complete bike needing work from around £800-£1000 and mint restored ones are fetching around £3-6K with clean useable ones around £2k and up.
In respect your Blade I’d have it for £2k. You’ve done well.

If you wanted an old CB as a keeper it could be turned into something like this.

Thanks for the tip! Its more of a love doing it rather than make money on them...ill keep an eye on the cb's.

Not too interested in turning into a naked, I've still got the speed to rip my arms out.

Its on gumtree for a tad more..everyone likes a haggle!

Totally agree. I did the SV650 before the R1 last year and that flew out the door and I made £300 on it in the space of less than 2 months. Nice easy one.
I too enjoy the challenge but if you can make a little bread for your time then win win
