Recently a friend had a problem with his sprint GT's gearbox. No dealer could fit him in to even look at it (Basically it would lock up in top) for up to 5-6 weeks including the supply dealer. Anyway Clive Wood said he would check it over in a couple of days, so he hired a van and took it to Clive. (BTW the bike is 10months old and Clive had done the 6k and 12k services)
Clive stripped out the clutch and looked for the problems with the gear linkage mechanism and return spring as both can give problems. unfortunately although he fitted some new parts he then ran though the gears on a paddock stand and declared the box F&%£ed and the engine would need a full strip. A warranty job!
So whilst the van was available dashed to the main dealer.
Again told that 5-6 weeks before they could look at it. but that's how it is this time of year! Unfortunately this was his only form of transport but the dealer had no long term loan bikes. So an email was sent to Triumph(luckily I still have some contacts through the old racing days) who supplied my friend with a Street Twin.
Now he has been told his bike is ready for collection tomorrow,
    So 2 morals here.

1 Non main dealers services does not mean your warranty is void. Plus Clive put himself out to help a customer.
2 Great work by the factory supplying a long term loan bike for someone who has a transport problem (hats off to Freddy Pett).
