Hello fellow Triumph fans, I inherited a Triumph TR3A from my father, and now own a 2001 Triumph Sprint ST and a 2013 Triumph Trophy SE. I used to own older Brit bikes ( I had two beloved BSA Thunderbolts '68 and '71 and a Norton 850 Commando- I can't remember the year, but it was a great bike). I then got a Moto Guzzi 850T, followed by Moto Guzzi 1000 LeMans, then a BMW R1150R. Most of my friends rode Harleys. I've ridden those, and they're fine bikes too, but never really captured my fancy. Then the Sprint. My wife said she felt she was sliding forward and back during acceleration and braking, so I got the big Trophy. It's by far the most sophisticated and comfortable bike I've ever ridden. I love it, but being a quite fit 60 year old 5'8" guy, it feels tall and heavy in the parking lot. I've dropped it twice, which makes me sick! I learned something- don't touch the front brake at low speeds! All my other bikes being so much smaller, the poor technique never showed up as a problem. I bought a lowering kit from Soupie's and I'm now dealing with it just fine. Once it's moving, it feels light and nimble- just a bit of a handful in driveways and parking lots. Well, that was quite a long-winded hello! I'm excited to speak with other Triumph owners (who I regard as being strong individuals and not sheep)!
Try a Sprint GT, with boxes on, your wife will be happy and it's lighter and more manoeuvrable than the Trophy.
Good morning Triumph fan and welcome aboard. I had to drop my Scrambler a bit to make her more manageable. In fact, this subject has been dealt with many times before. I'm glad that you have modified your bike to your liking. Ride safe and enjoy!
Welcome to the madhouse you should fit right in. To keep the inmates happy we will need photos.. Tucker
Thanks Everyone! I'm looking forward to having some interesting conversations about one of my favorite subjects! I'll get some pictures posted soon.
Triumph Fan Welcome to the Family. Yes we will be waiting for the pictures of the steeds. Regards & Ride Safe Joe.
Hi Triumph Fan and welcome to the forum looking forward to seeing your lovely rides. Was a Norton 850 fan myself, loving my Bonnie
Here's my 2001 Sprint ST, for sale, sadly... It has a new Sargent seat with blue piping and a Trident carbon fiber muffler. Sounds great! My wife can't ride on it comfortably: she got spoiled by the Trophy, so this one has to go.
Triumph Fan. Well my mostest favourite bike of all time. And to me the best colour. Love it. Have you listened to that triple talk. Just to fast for me now. And people say its only as fast as the rider. But not true. You ride that machine and the demon's take over me. Regards & Ride Safe. Joe.
I understand. I had a bad accident ten years ago and I haven't been the same rider since. I can't ride anywhere near this bikes limit. Way too much pucker factor!
