Plan to lay up the 955 Daytona over winter to do a few jobs on it and get it ready for some proper thrashing next year. Will have it on an Abba stand, and as plan to work on fuel sensor float, will be draining and removing tank at some point. Have it set up to plug an optimate in from time to time. Any tips or possible problems to avoid? Cheers! DS
I’d agree with you about keeping riding, I use my bikes as much as I can over winter obviously avoiding ice and snow, however I’ve always avoided using a pressure washer. I’ve seen them take paint off wheels etc and wouldn’t want to use one around wheel bearings, swingarm linkages etc. Each to their own I guess, just not for me.
I park my bike over winter and take for a run if there is a nice day or run though a few heat cycles every couple of months. I don't go anywhere near salt as it gets in crevices does its rotting and spoils the bike IMO. Each to their own !
Cheers for the input folks! Have an optimate that I'll be using with it. Got to take it off road for a bit as want to do some work on it, but I won't be bikeless as I have the 'Panzer' for winter work! The intention when getting the Daytona was always for it to be a shiny summer and trackday toy and to leave the GS for the shitty winter roads. DS
You can do that, but keep in mind that your bike should be moved at least once a month for at least one hour. The more often you ride, the better! Otherwise, it would be better to remove the battery and hang it on a charger.
