The Irishman, on Netflix at the mo. A (mostly) true story, great acting and make up. No sensationalism which is unusual for this type of film. Highly recommended.
Just rewatched “the talented mr Ripley”... funny to think it’s over 20 years old now! I still cringe at him nearly getting caught as the plot thickens. You kinda want him to get away with it, but you know it’s so wrong... so you want him to get caught too! A good film, not outstanding, but definitely worth watching all the way through if I haven’t given too much plot away!
Just watched the first three episodes of Season 3 of "Goliath". I'm hooked. Plus I love Billy Bob Thornton. It's pretty interesting as the core of the plot revolves around a drought and water rights in California. Living in Arizona with our water issues, I can relate. Looks like there are eight episodes total so that means a couple more nights until Season 3 is in the books and I can wait for a couple of years before the next season comes out.
1917. It is very easy to see why this movie has gathered so many plaudits, nominations and awards - it is a tour de force in a great many ways .... as a movie; as a story; as an allegory about war, love, friendship, family, loyalty and service. Despite a few annoying, albeit minor, continuity errors and an (easily overlooked) implausibility to parts of it, this film is gripping and intense for almost every one of the 119 minutes it runs. Read into it what you will - the horrors of war; the power of familial bonds; the strength of loyalty in armed service or the bravery of individuals in combat - this movie can and does represent a massive scale of story and film production. For any and all of those reasons, I would suggest this is one that needs to be seen on the big screen!
Just watched The Gentleman......feckin' great film Was trying to place the actor playing Raymond, bugger me if it isn't Jax from SOA
Yup, I too seen the Gentleman on Saturday with my lad and couldn't agree more, what a cracking film, also seen "Knives out" last night with my better half, Daniel Craig's accent in it takes some getting used to but otherwise a watchable film.
